Fun weekend. Worked on the garden (am trying to kill grass. We have very hardy grass that will. not. die.) and then went to pick up George’s wedding band (used to belong to my dad, happily, they were able to preserve the engraving on it, after it was resized. Let me say now that my dad, all 6′ of him, had smaller fingers than George. Weird.) and then we went to the flea market (got some vintage earrings to decorate my shoes). Stopped for a Sonic Blast (hmm, why am I not losing weight?) on the way, and after the flea market went to the mall to get my necklace inspected. (My other bling that must be inspected twice a year.) Then we went to a grocery store where I bought some rum that I am now inebriated from. Can you believe I can spell inebriated after drinking approximately half a bottle of it? Ha ha. Okay, maybe not a full half of it. But close. Now I must drunk dial Kristina’s boyfriend and tell him to marry her. I think it’s only fair.

Yay! I’m going to see Coldplay in Houston in September! Yay, yay, yay!

Okay!
Fresh start! I have until August 27 to get my weight as low as humanly possible, and then I have to maintain. I made my appointment for my first dress fitting! And as much as I don’t want my dress to be too tight, I really don’t want it to be too loose, either. Right now, it’s too loose, so I want them to be able to take it in as much as possible on the 27th of August. So…fresh start!
I think my three pound gain over the past two weeks has a lot more to do with the Chinese dinner I had last night than actual weight gain, so next week should be good. (Even though I made good Chinese food choices, it’s still salty…)
Woo! Fresh start! Woo! tee hee. (Sorry I have nothing else exciting to say.)

Hmm. Now that the excitement of the party and my trip to Durham are over, I have not much to say. Let me think…
Well, actually, Saturday was sort of exciting. After going to another engagement party, we went to a jewelry store to find out if George would be able to wear my dad’s ring as his wedding band. The store was so awesome – the jeweler first said he could stretch it out, without messing up the engraving inside. As long as my dad had never had it resized, that is. Turns out, he had. So while they were stretching it, it popped. So now they’re going to add a little gold to fix it, and then send it out to fix the engraving that got cut in half. No biggie, and they’re only charging me $18! Eighteen dollars! What a bargain! Thanks, Dad!
(One may say it is unfair that George had to buy not one, but two diamond rings for me, and I only have to pay $18. But I say, I have to wear a dress that costs at least ten times more than he will pay for a rented tux. Not to mention every other wedding cost. So there.)
Tonight we’re going on a date. George says I get to pick the restaurant. Must be something light since tomorrow morning will be my first weigh in in two weeks, and after a week of eating
off plan. I’m thinking somewhere with raw oysters. Mmmm…. -
Okay! I’m back from Durham and I’m recovered, so now I can do a little catch-up.
I could post an in-depth description of my conference, but I will spare everyone the details. It really was a nice week, and I got a lot accomplished, but the best thing was that I won a photo printer, so now I can print out a million pictures of Ellie! Yay!
I’d also post an in-depth description of the party, but really, the details are a little fuzzy. Ha ha! Okay, but how about a few pictures?
(walking through the door)
huh? what is going on?
i am so surprised!
and thennnn, about 8 hours later…tee hee!So it was a great party, a great night, and it’s hard to express how incredibly sweet it was of our friends and family to go through all they went to for this party. sniff, sniff!

Agggh!
I really wish I could write a nice long post about the incredible, amazing, wonderful day I had on Saturday, but unfortunately, I’m in North Carolina at a work conference and I have no time. Plus, I’m working on a laptop without a mouse, which drives me insane. But I promise I will post a lot, lot, lot when I get back.
All I can say is, THANK YOU everyone who was there. And everyone who wanted to be there. It was just the most amazing party. And YES, I WAS SURPRISED!! (Why does no one believe me? Tee hee!)
Here is a link to some pictures. Tee hee, fun fun fun!
(FYI, to those who don’t know…my friends and family threw us a surprise engagement party at the pub on Saturday. Actually, it was only a surprise to me, not George. But it was incredible.)

Yeesh, my weight has just been all over the place. Up 4.8 lbs last week, down 3.8 this week. Let’s just hope with Kristina’s (and Jenny’s and Ren’s) visits this weekend, and my trip to Raleigh next week (and a scale other than my home one for next week’s weigh-in) I don’t go up too much for my next weigh in. Ah well. We’ll see.
Here’s something to cheer everyone up!
-
Um, I would like to uh say that, well, my mom uh DOES NOT CHEAT AT SCRABBLE! Yeaaah, that’s the ticket!

My most sweetest baby pumpkin on earth!!!
Eleanor Grace Elizabeth! Born May 21 in the middle of the night. Healthy and perfect and screaming like a banshee, so I’ve heard. Right in daddy’s ear. Ha!
Here she is:
just a few seconds old!
telling her big brother Ernie a secret:
eeeep! That’s my baby niece!!!
And thanks Mike for a possible first Halloween costume?

-
Eeeeep!!!
My sister in law is in labor!!
I’m gonna be an aunt soon!!! Yay!!!!
(also, I fixed the faucet. Score!)
-
So apparently when I was scrubbing the bathtub yesterday, I
broke the faucet. Sorta. The hot water won’t go off all the way.
I have visions of the house flooding. The bathtub filling with
water and crashing through the dining room ceiling. Lovely.
Anyone know a plumber?I wish my cell phone would ring and I wish it would be my
brother or someone telling me my sister-in-law is in labor. I’m
sure she’d be happy if that happened too, especially since the
Star Wars premiere is over. I’ll bet they are a little sorry it
didn’t happen yesterday, though. How fitting would it be for my
brother’s first child to be born on the day a Star Wars movie
comes out? Can’t wait til next weekend. Will be so exciting! Must make tea
reservations. Mustn’t forget. Also must buy white cotton gloves
as the dress shop people terrified me with stories of silk
dresses getting streaks on them from body oils from hands when
they’re tried on. Wouldn’t that be a lovely addition to my dress?
