Weekend plans

Well, last night was a bit tiring. I went to sleep early, trying to catch up on some lost sleep from earlier in the week. Lo and behold, at about 2:45 am, Oliver started screaming. After a few minutes, it became apparent he wasn’t going to stop, so I went into their room, attempted to comfort him, gave up, and brought him to bed with us. Which is sweet and all, isn’t really conducive to a restful night. And then my morning routine was all messed up, which just puts me out of sorts for the rest of the day.

But they were being a little bit cute. They all insisted on wearing the shirts with the alligators on them, which are from George’s school’s fair.

Ah well. The weekend should be fun, so I’ll stop whining. Tonight we have a wedding to go to, for some neighborhood friends. It should be a lot of fun for us, and since the boys are spending the night at Granny & Grandpa’s, it should be fun for them too.

And then Sunday is Mother’s Day! Hard to believe it’s my third Mother’s Day. I’m excited about our plans, we’re going to brunch at a plantation. There will be room for the boys to run around and lots of pancakes for them to eat. I know it’s kind of cliched, but I always wanted a nice breakfast with my family for Mother’s Day. That’s what we did for my mom (though she insists we never did.) I’ve been saving my WW points for all the yummy food. Mmmmm….

My littlest blog reader.

How did I not notice this? Apparently my youngest son reads my blog. My friend Jennifer pointed out that, duh, a few posts down, I’m wearing an Easter bucket on my head (circa 1996.) Miles apparently got the idea from me. Ha ha ha! Hilarious!

We had a nice weekend. The weather was horrific for the first part of it, but after the storms passed, it was just gorgeous.

We went for a walk…

And fed some ducks…

And ate popsicles…

And went to the park…

Afterwards, we went to George’s school’s fair, but I didn’t take any pictures there. We let them play some of the games, and they won pinwheels, which they used for sword-fighting. Sigh.

Oh, and I found some old pictures and videos of the boys.

My mom and siblings feeding the boys – it was the weekend of the christening, so they were 4 months old here.

The boys were about 8 months old here:

And oh my goodness, these videos from when they were three months old…gah!

Awwww!

Bummer.

Note to self: Never have sushi for lunch on a Thursday anymore.

My weigh in didn’t go great, I only lost .2 lbs. That’s 0.2. One fifth of a pound.

But I know I did well last week. I stayed within my points all week. Let’s face it, for the past two weeks I’ve been eating a lot better (and a lot less) than I was before that. So I know that that zero-point-two isn’t an accurate reflection of my hard work. It’s a reflection of salty soy sauce on my sushi. (Oooh, alliteration!) Even though I used the low-sodium kind, I know that sushi makes me hold on to water weight and totally screws up the scale.

So next week, I’ll have a nice, sensible, low-in-sodium lunch, and just to be safe, I’ll wear a sundress. A very lightweight sundress.

Change of subject! I’ve been scanning more pictures. And some people have asked what kind of scanner I got. It’s a Pandigital Personal Scanner and it scans at 600dpi up to 5×7 prints. So far, so good! (No, I was not compensated or anything for this.)

Here are a few more old pictures I thought I’d share…

In college, I managed a daiquiri bar for a while. As you can see, I was a very responsible and mature young woman.

And my friend Ren, you know her? She also worked there! (PS Happy Birthday, Ren!)

As a child, I was quite stylish.

Oooh, here’s a picture I found from my brother’s wedding. Pretty! I cant’ believe they’ve been married for almost 14 years. Holy cow!

Okay, I’ll stop now.

Don’t forget to enter the contest for the Organizing Tote from Thirty-One gifts if you haven’t already!

Blast from the past

For the past several years, I’ve been on a search for a scanner that I could use to easily scan the hundreds of photos that I have from the pre-digital days. I was very excited to find one on Amazon for a reasonable price and with decent reviews, so I ordered it. I got it yesterday and started scanning away. (While watching TV, which is the best part about this scanner, it doesn’t even need to be hooked up to a computer!)

So now of course I want to share some random old pictures…

My dad! From a cruise we took as a family in 1998, just a couple of months before he died. He hardly ever drank, but c’mon, when in Mexico…ya gotta have a margarita! (And he was just being silly here with the fake scowl.)

Here I am in the middle of marathon #2, the 2003 Marine Corps Marathon. I ran it and raised money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
PD0166

A truly horrific photo of myself, circa probably 2001ish? And my friend Chris. This picture is what I consider to be an “inspiration pic” for WW. As in, let me get inspired to NEVER look like that again.
PD0097

This is from The Most Perfect Day, Ever. (Pre-babies and marriage, of course.) This was in London, circa 2001, I think.

And here’s a random picture of me from a music festival in Englad in the summer of 1997.
PD0212

Oooh, best Halloween costumes ever. We were bags of tea!

And we decorated Kristina’s car like a box of tea. This was 1998.

Okay, I’ll stop now.

One day I’ll get thanked at the Oscars

At least, that’s what I hope will happen as the result of posting this…

My brother, Evan, has been making short films for as long as I can remember. He’s had success with some of them (ever heard of a little film festival called Sundance?) and now he’s a finalist in this contest. It’s called Get L.A., and I need you to vote for his film. Because if he wins, maybe I can convince him to give me a shout-out when he makes it to the Oscars and wins.

You never know….

The film is Eagle Rock (Los Angeles) California, and if you want to one day be able to say, “hey, I know that chick!” when he thanks “my sister, Pam”, then go here and vote for it.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! The boys did, that’s for sure. They made out like bandits.

Oliver, Miles, and Linus (out of order! eep!)
Christmas babies

(Doesn’t it look like Miles and Linus are scheming? Just like in the womb!)

George was covered in babies…

The boys loved their cards from cousin Ellie!

Grandee was here since Friday, and it was so awesome. The boys love their Grandee and she let George and I sleep! And one night we even went out with friends for a little while! It was all terribly exciting. Grandee is back in Baton Rouge now but will be back this weekend. Good thing, the boys miss her!

Tomorrow is pediatrician appointment number 2. It will be interesting to see how much they’ve grown in the past 9 days!

Vacation!

Sorry I haven’t updated in a while – I’m on vacation! Sheesh. There has, of course, been much excitement but I’ll post more when I get home. With pics. Of Morrissey! And Emily and Ellie, of course.

Today we’re going to a cave. Can you guess whose idea that was?

No Emily yet!

No Emily yet…but soon! Jenny’s at the hospital now getting induced. I won’t be able to post until I get home from work, so everyone, keep your fingers crossed that this isn’t a loooonnnng labor, and that by the time I get home from work, I have something to write about!

Happy Birthday Ellie!

Okay, okay, I know, lame. I’ve been lame. I’m sorry! But I had to post today, if only to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLIE! 2 years old today! woo hoo!

Of course, I’d really like to be talking and sharing about Emily, but she hasn’t yet made her appearance. Soon, I hope. TODAY would be awesome, don’t you think? Fingers crossed!

Didn’t do a whole lot this weekend. We’re leaving for San Francisco and Monterey on Thursday evening, so I had some design work to catch up on. I’ve been so busy with it, it’s great! But doesn’t leave a lot of free time in the evenings and on weekends.

I did borrow Liam, our friend’s kid, to go to Teresa’s work’s family day in the French Quarter. It was fun, and MAN that kid can pack it away. Almost three, and he ate a bowl of jambalaya, half of my snowball, half a hot dog, and maybe that’s it, but he’s little, okay?

Here he is, the snowball thief:

5/11/07

Okay, who’s ready for me to have another neice? ME! Come on, Emily, be born on Monday! What a nice birthday that’d be. 🙂

Boy, I wish I had more exciting things to say. Trip to California in two weeks! Woooo hooo! I can’t wait! And yesterday, I booked our tickets to DC/NYC in July. Yay! That’s going to be THE most exciting trip ever. Ellie, Emily, Morrissey, New York, Dylan’s Candy Bar, lots of paper stores, SEPHORA, Kristina, Evan, Jennifer, Jenny, Rob, Mom. (Not in order of exciting, I swear.)

Okay, must get ready for work now.
