We made a quick trip to Baton Rouge, just for the day, so the monthly picture was taken in front of Grandee’s garage door. Could they be any more handsome? Possibly I am biased, but I think not.

Each month, I take a photo of the boys on the 4th of the month.

Happy birthday to my baby boys!
One dozen years. A gross of monthly pictures. Number one hundred and forty-four. I guess we can stop now.
(HA HA HA YEAH RIGHT THEY WISH.)
On Thanksgiving, I made them let me take close up pictures of their faces because I love their eyes. Of course they all had to smirk.
Those freckles kill me. ❤
Anyway, they opened presents this morning, but this evening we have to go back to school because they have to present some living history stuff. They’re decidedly not thrilled about that, but we’ll have steak for dinner after, which should make up for some of it.
Twelve years old. Can you even believe it?
And in case you want to see how much they’ve grown…
I am amused when I look at this month’s picture next to last month’s. Finally some consistency from month to month!
Except this time Linus is a blond, and a few differences in jacket situations. But still. As close as we can get.
I want to include Ziggy in this month’s post because he’s so darn cute. He probably warrants his own post because look at that face. Those ears!
I think he was looking at a squirrel. I mean of course.
We were at our friend Heather’s house for her birthday party/Fourth of July party, so I got this month’s pic in the hallway. I usually use my DSLR for the monthly pic, but it was too hot to go home and grab it (and too hot to contemplate doing it outside earlier in the day.)

(This isn’t the first time we’ve done the July monthly pic in Heather’s hallway…)

Smiles are too much to ask for in some cases. Ahem.
Check out those sock tans, though. Just like Grandpa John.
Taken on time, with reluctance (one day they’ll thank me) but posted two days late.

Missing my boys so much! I’m in Belgrade, Serbia right now for work. The weather is lovely, though, we’re staying in a great house, and I’m happy to be hanging out with my teammates. So I’ll survive.

It turned chilly again (probably our last gasp of winter) and I had to get these fast before their toesies froze. The sword was from a parade we went to last week. Miles didn’t turn into a knight or anything.
I have so much to blog about, it’s pathetic. But I go back to work one week from today, so you’ll have to wait until I’m used to sitting in front of a computer again. But I mean, I have to cover:
Until then, I have some lazing to do!
Because the fourth fell on a Monday, the boys (especially one in particular) were especially not excited about taking the monthly picture. So they said, “can’t we just keep it real for once and not smile?” In the end I got one with fake smiles and one “real” one. In the afternoon, in better moods, they said we should use the smiley one. So here you go. But of course I will post the “real” one too.
I know! They look so enthused, don’t they? Maybe overly enthused in Linus’s case.
That’s more how Oliver really felt. I can’t really blame him, really. Who wants to force a smile when it’s gray outside and you have to go to school?
Next month it’s on Lundi Gras so they’ll be out of school, so the smiles should be bigger and real!
