Last night was our annual triplet mom get-together at a local "paint a picture and drink wine" place. (Last year we did a New Orleans house, this year was a streetcar.)
Yeah…I’m pretty sure painting is not my forte, but it was fun anyway. This one’s going in the boys’ room.

Was playing around with the settings on my new Flickr app on my phone while Miles washed his hands. Love those skinny little legs and butt!
Hate the 1980s-style bathroom though. This puppy needs an update BAD!
Not sure if you noticed, but I am now trying to get listed on a new blog site. It used to be Top Baby Blogs, but I figured, my kids aren’t babies anymore (sniff) so this is for the Top Mommy Blogs. Just click the banner below, once a day. Woo!
Walking, walking, walking
The other day, I saw a friend posting on Facebook asking for people to join her work’s team for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. I was super excited to see that, because I knew I’d be out of town for the Race for the Cure, and I really wanted to do something in honor of my friend Angela. So yeah…who wants to donate? I set a modest goal of $100 since I signed up so late, and I’m 40% there.

Girls’ weekend
As mentioned in the last three picture posts, I spent the weekend with some girlfriends from high school. A little background, if you don’t know…we went to a public boarding school for gifted students (ie, nerd school) in the small town of Natchitoches, Louisiana. Five years ago, with two of us in the New Orleans area, and the two others in Dallas, we decided to get together for a weekend in Natchitoches, which happens to be about halfway between our two cities. Handy!
We stayed at a really cute B&B (right across from the house in Steel Magnolias. Everywhere you turn in Natchitoches you’ll find a reference to Steel Magnolias.) for two nights. Ren and I got there a bit late on Friday night, and Maura and Kelly (aka Kettie, don’t ask) arrived about an hour ahead of us. We spent the evening catching up. I hadn’t seen Maura since I was pregnant with the boys!
Ren and I shared a room at the front of the house and slept in until the sinfully late hour of 8:00. Poor Maura and Kettie were at the back of the house and were woken up at 6 by the cook making breakfast. But at least it was a yummy breakfast, eh? We spent the day walking around, first downtown…
eating at our favorite restaurants:

Looking at really old cars. Hmm. There was an antique car show while we were there.

After we finished wandering downtown (which is very small), we headed over to the campus of our high school. It’s on a college campus, with lots of old brick buildings and grassy hills. It’s quite pretty.
We peeked in the windows of the old cafeteria (now offices)

and happily noted that some things didn’t change.

We checked our mail in the SAC (Student Activity Center)

I’m not kidding when I say we spent more time and money at this place than anywhere else:

We posed for more pictures in front of the High School building:

and checked out the dorms. Memories!

We left a note for the current students…

I lived in one of those rooms one of the years. I can’t remember. I’m old.

That evening, we were pretty wiped out from all the walking, so we went to dinner, then passed out at the B&B.
Early the next morning, we ate breakfast and then went our separate ways. But not before one more group shot!

Love you ladies! See you next year! 🙂
