Eep!

Well, now it’s time for some excitement!

Went to the doctor yesterday, and based on several factors, he is admitting me tomorrow for the duration. Hopefully that duration is at least two weeks, but we’ll see. My blood pressure is starting to creep up, my ankles are just getting more and more swollen, and (here’s the fun one) I gained 17 lbs in 11 days. So, yeah, it’s time.

As soon as he walked in the room after reviewing my bp, weight gain, etc, George and I both knew what he was going to say. You could just tell by the look on his face that he wasn’t giving me great news. But really, I don’t consider it bad news. I’m happy to do whatever to make this pregnancy last as long as possible. It definitely sucks not to be at home, but it’s a small price. Goodness knows I’ve had it very easy compared to most of the stories I read about triplet pregnancies.

So today, some friends are coming over to visit, I need to pack, and George and I will spend some time together alone. (Mostly I will just make him scratch my back for several hours to make up for all of the scratch-free nights I have ahead of me.)

Thank goodness the hospital has wireless access, so I will still be posting and all that. Woo!

PS Funny – the doc measured my belly, and if I were having just one, I’d be 47 weeks pregnant! tee hee! Silly.

Thanksgiving

Can you believe it’s Thanksgiving week already? Can you believe I’m 31 weeks pregnant? I only have THREE TO FIVE weeks left! That’s twenty-one to thirty-five days, people! (Actually, since it’s Monday, it’s really 20-34 days.) No sooner than 20 days, though. No way.

Tomorrow I’m going into the office for a bit to do some work and then it’s the office Thanksgiving. Yum! I’m bringing a premade apple pie. Hope no one minds. At least it was fresh at the grocery store, not a frozen one.

And then Emily’s coming to visit, along with Jenny and Rob too. And at some point this week I’ll get to see Kristie…and Renny…and baby Chloe…and Maura…so fun!

Thursday we’re actually having Thanksgiving dinner at our house. And we’re doing the turkey. But don’t worry. I’m not doing anything except telling George what to do. I will not be lifting a 14 lb turkey! Mom and Jenny et al are bringing the rest of the food. Mmmm….

Have a doctor’s appointment on Friday. Uh oh. Day after a big feast. Thank goodness I’m supposed to be gaining weight!

Now it’s time for a bitch session!
– hands are numb and swollen. Be thankful for this post, it’s dang hard to type now.
– heartburn is evil. And nothing seems to help. Except Tums, but only briefly.
– restless legs are v annoying.
– I barely fit behind the wheel of my car. Ha!
– Knees are killing me.
– George laughs at me every time I try to get off the couch. Okay, I’m sure it is a comical sight, but hmmmmmph!

On the other hand, George is being so incredibly helpful and he won’t let me do anything, so I will let him get away with the laughing. 🙂

Now, for fun, I got around to posting the video from our first ultrasound on YouTube. It’s quite entertaining. 😀

10/24/07

Man, I am soooo tired. So I will keep this entry short, but I know I need to post about my appointment yesterday, so here goes:

Well, everything is going well. What else to say? Ha ha…Babies look good. Weights are:
A: 2 lbs
B: 2 lbs 5 oz
C: 2 lbs 6 oz

I’d say “poor little A” but A was kicking B right in the head, so I’ll say “poor little B” instead.

As far as my health is concerned, all is well. Blood pressure is good, weight gain is good, and (apologies to males reading) cervix is long and doesn’t change when pressure is applied to my abdomen. I’m going to start working from home in the next week or so, which is going to be so much better. It’s just getting so hard to sleep and get up in the morning and get ready and drive into work, etc, etc. Just need to find a handy laptop desk that I can use on the sofa.

Doctor wants to see me get to 34 weeks at minimum, but I’m determined to be an overachiever and get to 36 weeks. 🙂

George and I also toured the NICU, because chances are very good that they’ll end up in there, at least for a little while. I wasn’t too shocked by it, but I think George was a little shaken up by it. I’m really glad he saw it now, though.

Oh, pics? Want to see them? C was being uncooperative, so we only have A & B. But like it matters – they basically look all the same anyway. 😛

And more excitement – Kristina is coming in two weeks for a week to help me out, getting the house organized and ready and everything. Yaaaay! So exciting!

Must write quick entry, as am being bad blogger.

Last night George and I went to Outback for dinner. Goooood protein! It’s been too long since I’ve had a steak (I think since the time in JUNE when we had George’s parents over to eat, and we told them I was pregnant.) Well, now that I think about it, I think we had it one other time at a friend’s house. Yes, we did. But twice in five months? Babies need more meat! Heh. Anyway, that was yum and a nice splurge.

Then we went and got a new electric kettle since my last one (which has served me well for the last eight years, RIP) started making ominous sparking noises yesterday morning. Gotta admit, the new one is nice. Then we went to B&N where I bought a wedding magazine because I’m designing a wedding album for one of the couples that was featured in it! I’m practically famous, people.

Isn’t our life fascinating? What I did realize last night after even the short amount of time I spent on my feet, is that I’m slowing down. It sucks, but I guess I’m lucky I’ve gone this long feeling pretty good. Even last Friday, at the doctor, when I asked him about bedrest, he said probably I’d go on it in the next month or two, depending on how I’m feeling. Well, at the time, I thought I could last til Thanksgiving, at least. But now, not so sure. I think I need to talk to my boss about working from home now. Thank goodness he’s open to that.

So…exciting plans for the weekend? Need to make some returns to BRU of duplicate gifts and exchange some onesies for bigger ones, stuff like that. And then I’m going to my friend’s son’s first birthday party. Par-tay! Woooooooooo! Tee’s coming over tonight (I think) to help organize the nursery. Maybe I’ll take some pictures.

Speaking of pictures, here are a bunch from the shower!

Sick

Ugh. Was home sick yesterday. Still not feeling 100% today, but better. And is anything worse than being home sick and having the internet down? I don’t think so. I couldn’t even play online! Sheesh. And the DVR is messing up, so it was hard to watch tv. Pout. Ah well.

The weekend was jam-packed with fun. Could barely cram more fun into weekend. Har. Friday night…um I can’t remember. Oh yeah, our halfiversary! Went to the Crescent City Brewhouse. Had yummy pasta. Went to pub. Saturday we cleaned and I baked cake and made ice cream. Went to friend Terry and Rob’s going away party that afternoon, and then ended up at (guess).

Sunday I gave George his birthday present – a grill. He was excited. I’m excited for him to start cooking me dinner on it! Hee hee. My mom came in, we had lunch. Bought Ellie a birthday present. (One of many.) Went to my house so Mom could see the new countertops (she was suitably impressed.) Wasn’t feeling well at this point. Poor George, not a very fun birthday, I’m sure. He went to (guess) while I stayed home.

Blah blah blah. I’m a big groggy because of the Tylenol PM I took last night. Zzzzzz.

Date-iversary #4

Boy, if you read my blog entry from four years ago today, you’d just have thought that day was an ordinary day. No mention of the date I had that night, which believe me, was very out of the ordinary. Well, I didn’t write anything about it because I didn’t know if George was reading my blog. So I was very cool about it all.

Tonight we’re going to go to the Crescent City Brewhouse for dinner, just like we did four years ago. Mmmm.

Am getting excited about tiling the countertops this weekend. I hope it doesn’t end up looking like crap. Want to go buy the tiles during my lunch break today, but I have to wait until I can bring some of the guys I work with to do the heavy lifting, and today’s not a good day. Dang. Not that I need to get them today, I just want to.

Prom!

Whew! I need a weekend from this weekend. V busy.

Friday night, we went to dinner at Amy and Van’s house. Amy and Van are 2/3 of the band that played at our wedding. Amy likes frogs. A lot. Dinner was yummy.

On Saturday, I voted and then went across the river to help out at my friend Angela’s cafe’s booth at French Quarter fest. It went well, but it was very exhausting. Only four hours of work, so I feel like a bit of a wuss. But seriously, I must’ve dished out a million Barbecue Shrimp Po-boys. Mmmm. Lots of butter.

After that, it was time to start getting ready for prom! Wooo! Prom was fun. That’s all I can say about that…really, pictures tell the story better:

Sunday involved a bit of recovery from prom, plus a gym visit, some bread baking (sourdough, mmmm) and then a barbecue at a friend’s house. Lots of meat. Reminded me of the time we went to the Brazilian barbecue restaurant when I went to NYC with Kristina and Anne and Marianne. (I won’t attempt to spell the name of the restaurant here.) Anyway. Not making much sense.

Four years ago today, I was nervous. I had a date the next night. I hadn’t been on a proper date in a very long time. Who was this “George” I’d met a few nights before?

4/19/06

Seriously, I’m a pizza genius. I think I’ll have to open Pam’s Pizzeria to share my talent with the world. It’s just not fair otherwise.

Then again, you know how they say not to eat pizza right before you go to bed, or else you’ll have nightmares? I’m thinking George must’ve eaten his dinner late because at about 4 am, he springs up in bed, yelling about the bugs. Hee hee.

Actually, let’s not blame the pizza. Let’s blame the gift I gave him for Easter. Some violent alien-filled videogame. Tee hee. (I can laugh about it now.)

Is it Wednesday already? That’s good. Halfway through the week! Tonight is Top Chef! This weekend is prom! And I’m volunteering at French Quarter fest. (Why do I do this? I hate the music at FQF but this is the second year I’ve volunteered. Ah, it must be my kind and generous heart.)

Okay, back to being bored.

Dispatch from London, #1

George hacking up mass quantities of mucous.

Marianne’s flat very nice.

Very cold here.

Flight was endless.

Already been to three pubs.

Pub quiz tonight, wish us luck!

Married life?

Okay, okay, time for another post. I can’t promise I’ll post from London, so no complaining! A honeymoon is no time to be updating a blog.

So, how is married life, you might ask? I wish I knew. I don’t feel married yet, I’ve been in Baton Rouge since Monday (and let’s face it, Sunday we were all too hungover to feel anything but like crap.) I still have been unable to use the “h” word, except for one time today, when I managed to choke it out to a Countrywide telephone operator. Go me! Poor George, he’s starting to take it personally, though he knows it took me a while to be able to say “fiance”, so he shouldn’t be surprised.

I can’t wait until Friday, when I get to go home to New Orleans to be with my h-h-h-hu-uh-George.

And then Monday, on a plane to London!

PS I boycott US Air (or I will after we get back from our honeymoon.) They cancelled our flight home from Charlotte (on the way back from London.) So now we have to pay for a hotel in Charlotte, so we can catch a flight home the next day. Jerks. JERKS! I hate them.

PSS I also boycott the Sheraton for not giving us a free breakfast coupon for the day after our wedding. They gave one to Lindsay. Hmmph. Stupid Sheraton won’t cough up $7.95 each for two of us? For our first breakfast as a married couple? I guess it was just as well that we were, um, as I said earlier, extremely hungover.

PSSS I feel guilty that people came from all over the country and I barely had time to talk to them at the wedding. This is normal, right? If only the reception had been ten hours long, that would have been much better! Oh, and while we’re in dreamland, if only I had eaten one of the oyster appetizers. Dang…

7/29/05

Well, my sister was right. (You won’t catch me saying THAT very often.) Wedding Crashers was hilarious. George even loved it. He loved it so much he didn’t even mind that there were three little old ladies sitting behind us exclaiming at everything slightly shocking. That was entertaining in itself. I don’t think they were very shocked, either. I think they liked Vince Vaughn.

Went to pick out tuxes last night. Suddenly I can’t wait to see George in a tux. I don’t want to see him until the wedding in it. Is that traditional? I don’t know. But I want it to be a surprise, like him seeing me in my dress. However, don’t think this means I let him have a free hand in choosing tuxes. No way. He’d pick the Matrix-style tux if I left him alone. I know better than that.

This weekend should be fun. Have some fun plans.

Don’t want to say too much, but let’s just say next Thursday, you people are going to be clamoring for my autograph. Tee hee!
