Last week was the boys’ second field trip, and again I volunteered to chaperone. I seriously love these four year olds, but I doubt when they’re in second grade I’ll be quite so eager to volunteer to help. Heh. We’ll see.
Anyway, if you’ve lived in New Orleans in the last several years, you’re familiar with the artwork of Simon whether you know it or not. His signs are everywhere. In shops and restaurants, as well as private homes. He has a very distinct style.
When I arrived at school, the kids were all sitting in a circle, singing. They all turned around and stared when I walked in, so the teacher had me stand at the front so at least they’d be facing her too. Ha. So I took advantage of where I was standing and got this video:
Gaaah, love it!
Pretty soon, we were getting on the bus with our charges. (Again, I was assigned two little girls. Heaven!) The kids were wearing old clothes since they were going to be painting at Simon’s workshop.
Fortunately, this wasn’t necessary during the ride:

And then we got there and the kids painted and watched the artists paint and were generally adorable. It was nice because Simon was very open about letting the kids explore and paint and touch things.
And then we got back on the bus and went back to school. The end!

That looks like a fun field trip. I love the video!
