Yet another exciting photo of my new office. I just moved down the hall, but the view is so much better. Hello Superdome! Now I just need to get that annoying film off the windows so I can have a clear view.

I have to apologize for the lameness of this picture. I just moved offices at work, and um, here is my new office. Exciting, yes?

A friend built a TARDIS for the owner of the pub. George was so excited to get a picture of the boys inside of it. (But it had no roof, and it was raining, so they weren’t quite as thrilled.)

Yeah, so you step inside…and there’s a pub! Bigger on the inside, see?

Pretty much the cutest thing on Earth. A bunch of four year olds performing in too-big costumes. Mama was a big ol’ pile of mush.

And oh yeah, there’s a video.

The boys had their last swimming lesson, and I’m so happy with how much more comfortable they are in the water now. Funny, though…until these lessons, Oliver was a little fish and Miles and Linus would barely put their toes in. Now it’s the opposite.

Stuff and things

It’s been a busy week, and I should probably save this post until tomorrow once swimming lessons are over and the camp play has been performed, but that’ll just have to be in another post.

The biggest thing for me was my dental procedure. It was pretty bad in an entertaining way. Let me show you some of the photos I took…

Here’s the “tooth” (on the left) I had work done to. I say “tooth” because there’s really not a tooth there. Just a bridge and a root canal. But all that had to go because of a stupid abscess on my gums. Argh!

And here’s an x-ray that was done after my dentist dug around in my jaw to remove the root. There’s a tiny little piece at the bottom of the right root that just didn’t want to come out. All I can say is “ouch”. Times a million. There isn’t enough novocaine in the world for that little bit of evil.

Earlier I posted the cadaver bone they filled the resulting hole with, and this is my pathetic face after:

I spent the rest of the evening on the sofa, watching “21 Jump Street” (you can see my office in part of it, during the high speed chase) and comforting myself with Kraft Mac & Cheese. (I will not apologize for this Dukan indiscretion.)

Happily, I woke up the next morning with no major pain or swelling, only the taste of death and dirty socks in my mouth (thanks to the antibiotic they mix into the bone) which was fairly easily remedied. And later, George and I saw Spiderman before picking up the boys from Granny & Grandpa’s.

I wanted to take the boys to see the fireworks for the first time, and fortunately, we live only a few blocks from the levee. The fireworks are shot over the river, so it’s pretty nice. Our friends with the quads who share the boys’ birthday came and watched with us, and it was really fun to see the kids interact. I think this was one of the first times it was just the girls and the boys together. Too bad it was so dark, I couldn’t get any great pictures.

I think the boys were pretty impressed by the fireworks, but it was way past their bedtime by the time they ended, so they were exhausted. Next year will be even better!

That vial right there is filled with ground up cadaver bone, which was mixed with an antibiotic and packed into the giant gaping hole that was painfully made into my jaw. Good times. I kind of feel like a science project now.

So, uh, yeah. This is pretty bad when the only picture I took today was of the tattoo I got when I was nineteen. Back in the olden days when Calvin & Hobbes was still being published. I forget I even have this most of the time. (I have another one too, but I’ll save that for another day.)
