Well, I know this is a boring picture, but considering the fact that I was lying in bed last night, trying to remember if I’d even taken any pictures during the day, and deciding it would be okay to go one day without a photo, I’m glad I have something to post, even if it’s just this picture I took of LInus while we were waiting for his prescription.

Just for funsies, Linus decided he wanted to go to the emergency room. So we did. He’s fine now, he just has a touch of bronchitis. We were home in just a few hours. And after being dosed up with Albuterol and steroids, he jabbered a mile a minute at me the whole way home, giggling and talking nonsense. His brothers were thrilled to have him back home, and at 2:30 am, George heard someone ask him, "were you very brave, Linus?" Gaah!

I got the boys a Cars-themed Wii game and I had to force them out of the house yesterday so they’d get some fresh air. (I know, that was not my wisest purchase ever…) Anyway, this face by Linus cracks me up. He’s so my son.

There’s something so perfect about bringing identical triplets to Sam’s. I actually got to use the "they sell *everything* in bulk here" line to someone. Beauty.

Two of my purple-haired little monkeys. It’s kinda subtle, but fun, eh?

(Oh, it was crazy hair day at camp. I didn’t just do this for no reason.)

Oliver vs Stinky. The showdown.

(Frankly, Stinky couldn’t care less, but Oliver is suddenly terrified of her, and won’t even walk by her.)

Every Wednesday evening in the summer, there’s a block party/concert in our neighborhood. Well, it used to be a block party, but now it’s always at the levee. I brought the boys to this week’s event, and their favorite part was sitting on the top of the levee eating chips.

The boys have been playing this cow race game on the Wii, and it’s really cute how they would jump to make the cow jump (when this is totally unnecessary) so they were bouncing all over the room. So cute. (Check out this video, the cute is overwhelming.)

I generally try not to post the same picture on Facebook and my blog, but this one was so cute I couldn’t resist.

(That’s Linus, my scary shark!)

Ultra-light and Ultra-yum

Summertime in New Orleans. Traditionally a time for frozen daiquiris, icy beer, pints of cider and Pimm’s Cups. Anything sweet and cool and refreshing will do.

However…this summer is my Dukan summer. My low-carb summer. My summer with no alcohol. But let’s be realistic. So let’s go for alcohol with less sugar (sorry daiquiris!)

And that’s where Michelob ULTRA Light Cider comes in.

I love cider, especially in the summer. It reminds me of living in London. But regular cider is so sweet. After doing without sugar for so long, it’s practically like syrup. But the Michelob ULTRA Light Cider is light. And crisp. Less sugary-sweet. I don’t know how they do it, but it’s quite refreshing. And it has a lot fewer calories than regular cider – 120 versus 180. (And when you’re having, um, shall we say, more than one, those calories add up!)

I got a six-pack one warm late spring Saturday when the boys and I were staying at my mom’s house. They have this back patio that is perfect in the early evening – shady, comfy reclining chairs, and it overlooks big yard for the boys to run around in while I relax. So I cracked open the Michelob ULTRA Light Cider…

and my mom stole it. Dang!

Fortunately, there were five more in the pack. Heh.

Another bonus about this cider is that it’s gluten-free. So many people out there (including my mother-in-law) cannot have any gluten at all, which limits their choices for refreshing beverages. Now I know what to bring next time I drop the boys off at Granny and Grandpa’s house! That should make three four year olds easier to deal with, don’t you think?

It’s funny that cider is generally considered a fall and winter beverage. Makes sense, I guess. People pick apples in the fall (or so I’ve heard – none of that down South) and so apparently drink their cider in the cooler months as well. But let me assure you, if you’re a northerner who thinks cider is only appropriate in the colder half of the year. Michelob ULTRA Light Cider is perfect for these hot, sticky summer days.

We went to a classmate’s birthday party on Saturday and the kids "panned for gold". So cute! Love all these sweet little boys. It was great to catch up with them and their parents, a whole week and a half after school ended.
