Pro pics of the boys
As much as I love taking photos of the boys, there’s something to be said for having a real pro take their pics. And when I got some particularly cute outfits for them, I knew I wanted them documented well. The boys certainly cooperated more for Yony than they do for me, and here’s the proof…
Linus…
Oliver…
and Miles…
(my heart just exploded all over my keyboard.)
Aren’t these just wonderful? Sigh…If you live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, I highly recommend contacting Yony to do a session for you. The results speak for themselves, but we also had a great time during the shoot.

Weekend recap
I really need to work on my post titles, eh? I am not so good at coming up with original ones. Anyway. We had a really fun weekend at Grandee and Larry’s house. I took lots of pictures. As usual.
Linus was excited about doing a project.

My mom’s backyard is a good place for taking photos. Glass of wine in one hand, camera in the other, relaxing on the patio while the boys paint.

Our plan for Saturday was to go to the Baton Rouge Zoo. I hadn’t been since I was a kid, probably 30 years ago. I just remember concrete and hot. Fortunately, they seem to have updated it somewhat in the intervening years, and I was pleasantly surprised. Our usual zoo is the Audubon Zoo, which is huge and great and usually crowded, and the BR zoo was a lot smaller, very shady, and not packed with people. The train is also a lot better there.
Oh wait, but before the zoo, I took my car to be vacuumed out. It was…disgusting. No other way to put it.
Before:

So, the zoo. The smartest thing we did was rent two double strollers for the boys (and our bags.) They haven’t ridden in anything for well over a year, but there’s no way they would have lasted as long as they did if they’d been walking. Plus, my mom and I would race them, and the boys loved that.

This one’s for George. Pooping tiger!

Oliver was super-excited to be on the train.

That’s a real swamp right there. Yes indeed. This is Louisiana.

After the zoo, we hit Wal-mart, where we got the coveted triple cart!

And then it was back to my mom’s for dinner. And back home on Sunday. No exciting pictures there, sorry. This morning I started a fitness boot camp with a friend, so my arms aren’t cooperating fully. So I should probably stop typing now.

We took the boys to the zoo in Baton Rouge on Saturday. I haven’t been since I was a little kid, and fortunately, it was nicer than my memories would have led me to believe. (Also it’s easy to be spoiled by our zoo in New Orleans.) But I might have actually preferred it. It’s shady, more manageably sized, and the playground area is way better.

Endorsement for today
Today’s endorsement is mostly for anyone in New Orleans reading this, because it’s for a local company called Bluebag. (FB page here)
I can’t tell you how sad it is that the closest IKEA to us in Houston, a good 6 hours away. Don’t think that doesn’t meant I haven’t made the drive many, many times. But it has been a rare treat for me lately to get to an IKEA, and usually it’s the one in Virginia by Kiki’s house, so it’s not like I can bring back an Expedit or something in my suitcase. (I have brought back suitcases full of smaller items, though.)
But then I found out about Bluebag. It’s genius, really. You peruse the IKEA catalog or the website, figure out what you want, and let them know. For a percentage of your total, they go to Houston and bring it back to New Orleans for you! Oh, it’s just magical, really. It’s certainly cheaper than the gas it would cost to drive to Houston, and far less of a hassle.
This week, I placed my first order with them. I was looking for bedding for the boys (for when we make the switch to bigger beds) and I found some I really liked, and of course, being IKEA, it was dirt cheap.
I also ordered some curtain wire I’ve been wanting for a while, to hang the boys’ artwork. (You can see an example of that in this post.)
The beauty is, no order’s too small! I could just order a three dollar

Oh no she didn’t!!!
Say what you will about single (old) kids riding in a cart made for three kids (while my three are crowded into a regular cart) but this picture of Miles’s face was just too funny not to post.

Rub a dub dub
You know I love taking pictures of the boys in the bath. The upstairs bathroom is one of my favorite rooms in the house. Well, was. Pre-potty-training. Before I had to share it with three little boys with bad aim. But I still love the clawfoot tub, the brown alligator-print flooring (vinyl, don’t worry), and the beadboard. It makes for great pictures.
From last night’s bath…
P.S. This is the toy that has brought them so much joy in the tub. Highly recommend for any kids who love playing with cars! I linked to the wrong toy at first. This $12 toy is the one I meant!
