Random stuff

– I’m attending my first Weight Watchers meeting in three years tonight. Wish me luck. The last time I went to meetings, I think in four months I lost two pounds. Here’s hoping this time goes better. (My theory about the last failure to lose was that my body was psychic and knew I was going to be having triplets and therefore hung onto all the fat. You like that theory?)

– Did I mention this eight times already? The two year molars are a GO! They really are coming in, for real this time. I’ve blamed crankiness and sleeplessness and runny noses and slight fevers on these molars for months now. But now I’ve seen them coming in with my own two eyes. How long do these suckers take to come in? Months, huh? Ugh.

– The boys are saying the cutest things ever ever ever. Like the other day, at my moms, Linus and Oliver were sitting at the table, but Miles was loitering in the living room. They said, “come on, Milesy!” and my heart melted into a puddle of goo.

– I love breaking out the spring clothes! Little boys in plaid shorts kill me.

– We’re still working on Operation Binky Drop. After the molars are in, they’re g.o.n.e. I’m taking the boys to the beach for a week this summer with friends, and the thought of sandy binkies makes me cringe.

– Oh, school pics! The boys had them taken last week. (M-O-L)

Compare with the ones taken in December… (O-M-L)

They’re growing up!

Clean!

The boys are getting better about bathtime now, thank goodness. They still won’t sit down, but at least they don’t scream. Not until it’s time to get out, anyway.

The Good: Miles in his cute plaid shorts, coordinating (not on purpose) green and brown t-shirt, and sandals.

The Bad: Oliver in his Christmas monkey pajama top (that we wore to bed last night) and gray pants

The Ugly: Linus in lime green knit pants (not pajama pants but generally used as such) and a red M&M t-shirt.

It’s really fun when the boys want to pick out their own clothes. Sometimes it works. Sometimes.

A few Easter pics

I’m still recovering from Easter (or, more accurately, from three 2 year olds who are getting their 2 year molars) but I do want to share a few pictures from the weekend. I’ve been shooting in manual mode more and more, and I’m getting pretty good at it, I think!
(note: Miles in blue, Linus in yellow, Oliver in green.)

The boys playing with their new train set that Grandee and Larry got them for Easter. Linus looks like Godzilla, sitting in the middle of town like that.

Please, no more holidays.

I have some cranky children on my hands. We were off work today and daycare was closed, and the boys are fighting a chest infection.

We had grand plans of going to the zoo, but those were thwarted by a nap ending at 3:00. So we went to the park instead. Before we left, I had to fight Oliver to wear a pair of shorts instead of his pajama pants. He won with the shirt, though. He wore his pajama shirt, while Miles and Linus wore their Rock (or “turtle”, according to Linus) and Paper (“door”) shirts. I’m sure everyone was wondering where Scissors was.

The next part of the day is illustrated for you here:

I bought a ball at Target this morning, and we brought it to the park. Oliver was very possessive of it.

This little girl got a scowl just for looking at it:

Don’t touch!

IMG_4359

You tried to touch! I told you not to touch!

I mean, the child even was climbing up the steps to the slide with it!

IMG_4357

But there was fun to be had with it:

IMG_4373

At one point, he was rolling it up the slide and catching it when it rolled back down. I was proud of his creativity.

Miles and Linus were in good moods. Probably because they were wearing short sleeved shirts. Oh, but wait. Miles had his own sartorial issue. And this was not an accident. He quite emphatically wanted it this way.

I can’t make too much fun of him, though. Maybe it’s a genetic thing?

Miles was pretty darn happy at the park:

Linus was too, but for some reason, I didn’t get any good pictures of him.

After the park, there were tears because of shoe removal, bath tears, dinner tears, breathing treatment tears, and Shrek tears.

The end. Let’s just hope tomorrow is a little easier.

Oliver the Filthy.

The child was literally face down in the dirt. But I kinda liked it. It was so very boy of him.

Two little boys, worn out from dancing with Foofa and Muno. And notice how Miles is wearing a Yo Gabba Gabba t-shirt as well. We have three YGG t-shirts, thanks to my sister, and he pretty much rotates them daily.

Anyway, I wish their dancing came through in photos better. It’s pretty darn cute.

A whiff back in time

Last night, I got up sometime in the middle of the freaking night to tend to a coughing toddler. I don’t know who it was, because of course he stopped before I could determine who it was. That always happens. It’s like, I don’t need to give them medicine or anything to stop the coughing. I just need to get woken up, walk to their room, and stand there for a little while. That’s all.  It’s pretty handy, but kind of a pain in the rear.

After I got the coughing stopped by my mere presence, I went into the bathroom to wash my hands. And the scent of the hand soap, plus that particular breed of exhaustion that only comes at 2 am, transported me instantly back about 26 months.

I don’t remember much about that time (I think that’s an evolutionary thing) but apparently I used this soap a lot:

It was a weird feeling. Not entirely unpleasant, actually. I think I might put away the rest of that soap so I don’t dilute the memories, you know? I mean, who’d want to forget this?

oliver's pissed
oliver is mad!

Is it wrong to laugh at your son when he’s put his shirt on upside-down and backwards? And has managed to stick his arm through an armhole?

Well, then I’m wrong.
