February 28 – March 3, 2016
February 28 – post race chargrilled oysters. Yum!
February 29 – doggy feet!
March 1 – Ziggy is a perfect gentledoggy in the carpool line.
March 2 – Finally, the boys love going to the library! Alas, it is not for the books.
March 3 – My friend Robyn is awesome and does a mean mean face. (This is from the Sex Ed episode of Teachers. Watch it!) I don’t have cable, so I had to wait until this morning and get it from iTunes. So exciting!
Race report: New Orleans Rock ‘n’ Roll 10k
I wasn’t going to do this race. I had some good friends from work coming in town to do the half marathon and I told them, I’m not doing more half marathons. So I was going to make signs and support them.
But then last week, I was offered a free entry (via the mom’s blog) and I was like, FINE. But I only agreed to do the 10k. And then my work friends were like “yeah, 10k sounds better.”
I woke up bright and early (actually at 4:45 so it wasn’t bright at all) Sunday morning to get dressed and head over to the airbnb they were staying at. Since it was close to the finish line, I left the van there and we ubered to the start line.
It wasn’t too crowded when we got to the start, since the 10k started half an hour before the marathon.

We decided about a minute before the race started to try 2 minute run, 1 minute walk intervals. (I wanted 1:1, Deborah wanted 3:1, so it was our compromise.)
And then we went. I mean, it was fine.
I kept having to remind myself it was only 6 miles, not 13 like the races I usually do. It was a beautiful day, but I would have liked a bit more shade on the route. But I’m just being picky. It was lovely.

We finished in just under 1:20 (I had no time goal.) Got nice medals. (Deborah was mistakenly given a half marathon medal, ha ha.)

We met up with Zandy and Denise and then got food. And then laid around drinking mimosas and playing Two Dots. Kind of a perfect day.

So much to catch up on!

February 21 – the jasmine vines I planted last year are in bloom! So pretty!

February 22 – Linus was home sick. So obviously we took a selfie.

February 23 – Louis Armstrong on a foggy morning

February 24 – Ziggy likes feet of all kinds.

February 26 – some of my favorite coworkers came to visit! And they were at my house! Really quite a feat when you work for a remote company like we do.

February 27 – went to the expo for the race we did on Sunday, and the boys were excited to meet the Geico gecko.

Got some catching up to do!

February 17: Took the boys to get donuts after school. It was a gorgeous afternoon.

February 18: Just another Ziggy walk.

February 19: Miles finished his 100th day of school project! That’s a lotta marshmallows.
Sports!
I chaperoned a field trip at school today. We went to Audubon Park where the 2nd and 5th graders go to take part in a Saints Junior Training Camp thingy something like that. There were seven stations where they did something similar to what football players do in training. I guess. Can you tell we’re not a huge football family? I asked Oliver if he knew who Drew Brees was today. He just looked at me blankly.
Anyway, I made a little video (it’s only 37 seconds long) of some of what he did today.
He had a blast, and most importantly, got to drink a ton of Gatorade for free (they were one of the sponsors.)

February 13: Ziggy love his foot. It’s creepy as hell, though. He carries it around very gently, because it squeaks, and he does not like the squeak.
Bonus: It’s also hilarious when he tries to go through the dog door with it, but just can’t.

February 14: My sister sent the boys Trivial Pursuit Family for their birthday, and Linus wanted to play it. I love Trivial Pursuit so I agreed. We all sat around as a family playing a board game for the first time ever, I think. Well, that didn’t last too long. Oliver and Miles and Daddy lost interest after a while, but Linus and I played til the bitter end.
The great thing about this game is that it has two sets of cards – one for adults, one for kids.
So picture it, Linus needs his last wedge of pie, and he lands on pink (entertainment.) I look at the question. “You have GOT to be kidding me,” I say.
Mario and Luigi are plumbers. True or false?
Well, he was gleeful when he heard that one. Next, it was time for the final question. I got to choose the category. For some dumb reason, I picked pink again. Pulled out a new card, and I couldn’t believe what I saw for the pink question…
What is Ash Ketchum’s little yellow sidekick called in Pokemon?
NO FREAKING WAY. The kid’s last two questions are about his two obsessions. (Oh, did I mention there were some soccer questions earlier? Yeah.) So, needless to say, Linus beat me. Not by much. And the adult questions were hard. I swear!

February 15: No great pic, but here’s Ziggy worn out at the end of the day. It’s tough to be a dog, yo.
22 reasons it’s hard to be a triplet
I’ve been having so much fun making these for the New Orleans Moms Blog (moms, dads, kids, Mardi Gras), that I thought I’d do one for my own blog. The boys helped with some of them, so they’re legit. (See if you can guess which ones they came up with.)

Special thanks to my triplet mama friends who helped me with some of these too!
Edited to add this one from Linus that I forgot to put in the post. But it’s not really limited to triplets anyway.

8 year well visit at the doctor on Wednesday.
8 year stats:
Linus: 58ish lbs; 52ish” tall
Oliver: 59ish lbs; 52ish” tall
Miles: 60ish lbs; 51ish” tall
I lost the sheet of paper with the exact numbers, so it’s a good thing our next door neighbor is our pediatrician! I’ll get the exact numbers and edit this post sometime.
Compared with 7 years:
Linus: 49.6 lbs (50th); 49″ tall (50-75th)
Oliver: 47.8 lbs (25-50th); 48.7″ tall (50-75th)
Miles: 51.2 lbs (50th); 48.8″ tall (50-75th)

Oliver has a 100th day of school project due Monday.

On a walk with Ziggy and the boys. Here’s Linus caught in a sunbeam.

I took Linus and Oliver to get haircuts. Oliver’s doesn’t look that different but Linus’s cut was pretty dramatic. He said, “I just don’t want to look like Justin Beaver.”
