Happy Mardi Gras 2016!
pa-jammy
We went to a parade on Saturday that takes place within walking distance. My friend’s son Liam marched in it, so of course we embarrassed him thoroughly by screaming his name as he walked by.

I was going through the pictures I took at a parade yesterday and I came across this photo of Miles…
Which reminded me a lot of this photo, which was funny because once, when he was tiny (he was a month old here) he wriggled his hand out of his swaddle and started screaming at this foreign object in his face. (Well, I know that’s not really why he was screaming but it sure seemed that way.)
Anyway, I’m just glad he’s not scared of that hand anymore.
Brace yourself for some EXCITING photos…

This is me trying to get a photo of the back of my head. Because when in NYC, we dyed the underneath blue. Because why not?

Took the boys out for Chinese food Wednesday night.
Want to post these before too much time passes.
Lots of pictures from places we worked, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, a visit to the 9/11 memorial, and lots of group pics because because. Also Daryl.
A couple more days in New York!

Saturday was spent working until dinnertime, when we headed to a Brazilian place for appetizers and then this amazing pizza place for the rest.

Sunday started with brunch at a meatball restaurant (why not?) followed by a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and a visit to the 9/11 memorial.

Monday was the last day of the meetup, sad.
(Lots more NYC pics to come in a separate post.)
In New York for a meetup!

My amazing teammates from Happiness Hiring. We went to a meetup with support people in the area, and had some great conversations and beer.

We went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art after working today, and when I saw this sign, I got a bit antsy. I really want it to be WordPlay.
I’m hoping no one notices I skipped over January 24. I’m going to try to go easy on myself and not declare this 366 project a total failure because I missed a day in the first month. No, if I fail it’s going to be because I only take crappy pictures with my iPhone.

January 25 – Oh, doesn’t Ziggy look sooooo innocent here? I had started walking on my treadmill and he was trying to lick my ankles while I walked.

January 26 – Got George his own reading glasses. We’re getting old, yo!

January 27 – bribed the boys with cookies so they’d let me look for new shoes at the mall. (No luck.)
There’s a meme going around Facebook. You ask your kids some questions, they answer. I decided to try it with the boys. They were alone with me when they answered, so they couldn’t be biased by each others’ replies.
1. What is something I always say to you?
Linus: I don’t know.
Oliver: I love you.
Miles: I love you.
Well. Now we know which one listens to me the least.
2. What makes me happy?
Linus: Us being happy
Oliver: Us being happy
Miles: Us happy
Aw. I love that they answered this all the same. But also, Smarties. Smarties make me happy.
3. What makes me sad?
Linus: When we whine
Oliver: When we don’t listen.
Miles: When we fight.
Sad, mad, either way, they’re all correct.
4. How do I make you laugh?
Linus: I don’t know.
Oliver: I don’t know.
Miles: By tickling us!
Apparently, I way overestimate my sense of humor.
5. What was I like as a child?
Linus: You were unhappy. Not lonely, unhappy
Oliver: An ordinary kid. Liked playing outside
Miles: Didn’t have video games
I think I need to discuss my childhood with them more. Oliver probably got the closest, though. Except the outside part.
6. How old am I?
Linus: 41
Oliver: 41
Miles: 41
It pays to be obsessed with your birthday! Though I wouldn’t have minded if someone had thrown in a “31” in there. Oh well.
7. How tall am I?
Linus: 45 inches
Oliver: 6ft tall
Miles: 78 inches
At 5’10”, I’m closest in height to Oliver’s guess.
8. What is my favorite thing to do?
Linus: Hang out
Oliver: Read
Miles: Snuggle
Check, check, check
9. What do I do when you’re not around?
Linus: Work.
Oliver: Work. Or sit down and read or text.
Miles: Work.
I mean. I guess. That makes me sound kind of dull, though. Just as well I love my job.
10. What am I really good at?
Linus: This is a tough one. Reading?
Oliver: Being a parent
Miles: Mario
OLIVER WINS.
11. What is something I’m not good at?
Linus: Yoga
Oliver: Playing video games
Miles: Super Smash Bros
Can’t really argue with Linus (he takes a yoga class and SUDDENLY he’s an expert) or Miles (it’s true, I’m really bad at it) but Oliver has obviously forgotten my stunning victories at Super Mario Bros for the NES.
12. What do I do for a job?
Linus: Help people
Oliver: Help people with blogging
Miles: Help people
Good!
13. What is my favorite food?
Linus: Chips and guacamole
Oliver: Salad or oatmeal
Miles: Pizza
Oliver pays very little attention to my food, apparently.
14. What do you enjoy doing with me?
Linus: Snuggling
Oliver: Going on walks with Ziggy
Miles: Snuggle
Awwww, yep!

On the 22nd of January, Ziggy destroyed his dog bed. Sigh.

On the 23rd of January, I went wig shopping at Fifi Mahony’s and wore it to a parade that evening. Heather also got a wig. I just realized I used all of my birthday money on hair. My mom gave me some that I used to get it chopped, and my in-laws gave me some that I used for this fabulous wig. Woot!
In other news (I haven’t really blogged much lately besides pics) my latest New Orleans Moms Blog post is up. I used an old picture of Oliver for this one.
