+5 lbs

Ugh. Why do I feel guilty that I’ve gained five pounds? Shouldn’t I be happy? Isn’t this my goal? I’m worried my doctor’s going to yell at me. But I have a comeback for that (he didn’t give me any nutritional guidelines, so I went out and bought the most recommended book and have been following that. So there.) I think it’s more that I’ve struggled with my weight for my entire life, so I’m used to an increase being a bad thing.

For now, I’m just going to try to keep it steady, see what happens. Funny thing is, my clothes all still fit, so I don’t exactly know where the weight is going. It’s probably all of my running muscles turning to blubber. Charming. No, wait, that doesn’t work. Muscle weighs more. Dang. Who knows, then?

And I just want to reassure my new triplet-mom (and mom-to-be) readers that I will take it very easy when it’s time. And I’m taking it easy now. I promise. 🙂 I’m a lazy slob at heart. I don’t think it’ll be hard to revert to my slothful ways. Heh. (Thank god for Netflix and the DVR, that’s all I have to say.)

I don’t have a terribly exciting weekend planned, but next weekend…yeah!!!

Love the pregnancy updates!I actually lost an avg. of 10lbs with each pregnancy. Needless to say my dr. was pissed. I think the morning sickness every. single. day. had something to do with it. She still yelled at me every time I got on the scale, though. Bitch.

I got yelled at too. 😦 I “gained too much”.. whatever.. more than a pound a week was too much for her. But I’ve lost all but 7 pounds at 4 weeks! I only gained 35. I still need to do pilates ’cause I’m flabby.. but can’t do anything til my 6 week follow up which will actually be at 6.5 weeks since it’s a holiday.Hey.. PS.. did I ever tell you that Rob is a closet NKOTB fan?

Hey, Do you have a sister or SIL in ATL, GA? I met a woman in Sams who saw my girls and said her sister was pregnant with trips in NO. Just wondering if it was you. PS I lost 15 lbs my first trimester with the girls. But you do need to take it easy. Best of luck.Kimberly and the GA Guinn Tripswww.guinnfamilyhome.com

I think I am one of your “New Triplet Mom” Readers! yeah! Anyway, I have struggled with my weight my entire life too so when I met with the nutritionist when I was pregnant (the doc sent me to her) I was floored at how much she told me I should eat. Don’t worry, I gained close to 60 LBS. and I have lost all but 5 of it 3 years later! (If I worked really hard at it I am sure I could get those last 5 off but I love food to much!) At the risk of sounding like a “know it all” I just want to say from experience that it is easier to eat now then it will be later when you have three pretty good size babies inside your body! Oh and I also wanted to mention that my ultimate favorite was Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey! I ate it all the time when I was pregnant and I am surprised that I did not give birth to Three monkeys! :)Nicole

Hi Pam,Yes the weight gain is a good thing, especially if you aren’t having morning sickness…you never know if that will sneak up on you! Those babies will require so many extra calories from you, so eat away:)BTW, I read the NKOTB comment and I too, am a fan…I have the greatest hits CD on my ipod! Not ashamed to say I screamed my head of at one of their concerts when I was a freshman in highschool.Casey

Hi Pam,I’m a triplet Momma, and a twin Momma. I’ve got BBB Triplets & GG Twins. When I was expecting my trio in ’05 I really liked Dr. Luke’s book of what to do when you’re expecting twins, triplets, or Quads. http://www.drbarbaraluke.com/book_expecting.cfmHer website is really helpful as well with some random information! Good luck and keep up with the weight gain, I’m sure your MD won’t yell this early on! 🙂

don’t worry about the weight gain. Do your best NOT to obsess about weight gain or weight loss at this point. (In fact, I almost threw away the Barbara Luke book because she pretty much accuses you of not loving your future children if you don’t gain enough weight in the first 20 weeks… I’m down 15 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight, and my doctor isn’t the least bit worried)Just eat what you need to eat. Take care of yourself. Feel good. You aren’t going to get yelled at for gaining too much with triplets at this point. Seriously.

Try not to worry about the weight gain… I say this as I obsess over my weight at every doctor visit, lol. I agree with you – after worrying about losing weight for so long, it a bit strange to feel good about gaining it! I don’t weigh myself at home anymore – just at the doctor.
