OB appointment

So, my appointment yesterday…was fine. Nothing exciting. Maybe ten minutes of face time with the medical staff. Nurse didn’t look at my chart, apparently, because after she found a heartbeat, she started to walk away. I had to ask her kindly if she was planning on listening for the other two. Ah well.

Then a doctor came in. An old doctor. Not my doctor. Some old fart who clearly hasn’t dealt with many triplet pregnancies. After he briefly looked me over, we went into his office so he could yell at me for gaining 21 lbs. Mind you, that’s 14 less than recommended by the multiple pregnancy guru, Dr. Luke.

So, whatever. I don’t care. Next Friday is my appointment with the MFM, part two in the Search for the Membranes.

This weekend I have far more fun things to think about, namely the girls’ weekend with Kettie and Maura and Ren (and even little Alison for part of it!) which will involve gossiping, floating in a pool, and sipping frozen beverages. Virgin, of course. I can’t wait!

Awww, sorry the appt was rather crappy. You heard/saw all 3 heartbeats? Next week’s appt will be much more entertaining I’m sure. πŸ™‚ I must be overly tired because I read “sipping frozen beverages” as “sipping frozen vegetables.” I know you’re eating healthy and all but that seemed like stretching it a little bit. Yumm, pureed frozen squash while splashing around a pool… πŸ˜‰

I can’t believe they even bother trying to find all three with the doppler. unless they’re using three (or at least two) simultaneously and comparing, they can’t know that they’ve got different ones. At any rate, it doesn’t sound like your OB’s office deals with a lot of triplet pregnancies in general. If your MFM office is willing to do full pre-natal/OB care for you, you might consider switching your care full-time to the MFM office. I was VERY hesitant to do this with my pregnancy because I LOVE my OB and wanted NOTHING to do with giving him up. But I’ll tell you what, the minute things turned even the slightest bit dicey, I was so happy that I had only one set of doctors to negotiate with. And all things considered, I haven’t had TOO complicated a pregnancy, considering all that COULD have gone wrong at this point.
