I have one reader (hi Kelly!) who has a son named Linus. Pretty cool, yeah? And then today I got an email through Flickr from someone who has an Oliver AND a Linus. Now there’s gotta be someone out there who has a Linus, Oliver AND a Miles. 🙂
Tonight I’m having dinner with Alicia and Stephanie, the other moms featured in the ABC News story. I can’t wait to compare notes with them. Between us, we have six girls and four boys, it’s going to be fun to have playdates with them when the kids are older.
A couple of pictures…
Going on a walk…
The boys modeling their new cloth diapers.
Yes, I said cloth diapers. We’re trying them out, hoping to save a little $$$. And yes, it’s hard not to think of the impact three babies’ worth of disposable diapers is doing to the landfills. Hey, I even bought some reusable shopping bags! I’m so green! Woo!
Oh now, look what I’ve done. I shouldn’t have blogged every day last week. Now I’ve gone and set a precedent. We’ll see if I can keep this up, but I fear our life just isn’t interesting enough to justify a post every day. Maybe I’ll start doing interesting things just so I can write about it. Oh, who am I kidding? I’ve done that a lot! Why do you think I had triplets? My blog was v dull before that.
(I kid, of course.)
This weekend was pretty rough. Well, I should say, most of it was. We had babysitters on Saturday night. My coworker Robert and his wife and son and my other coworker David came over to watch the boys. I think they’ll never make the mistake of offering to babysit ever again, because the boys didn’t do what they usually do at night. Usually, they go to sleep at 6:30 or 7 after their bottle at 6ish. But no. They didn’t want to do that. Stinkers! They wanted to stay awake and play! Meanwhile, George and I went and saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Funny! I love going to movies, and I’m sad that we hardly ever get to go to them anymore.
Yesterday was the rough day. We stayed at home most of the day. I did take Linus grocery shopping with me, and he was v good the entire time. But the boys started getting very cranky way too early. So they ended up going to bed earlier than usual. Fortunately they slept pretty well last night, from about 6:30 – 6:30, only waking up at 12:30 to eat. Can’t really complain about that! Though I do long for the day when they don’t wake up at all in the middle of the night. That will be heaven!
Tonight, if the weather is good, we’re going walking with the girls. I live for these walks. It’s a big pain to get the boys all ready for the walk, but it’s so worth it. Next week, it’ll be easier. We’re getting a v fancy new stroller, purchased as a gift by a group of my friends. I’m incredibly lucky to have such kind and generous friends. Check out this puppy:
(Sorry, can’t post a picture when I’m posting via email.)
It’s like the Cadillac of strollers!
Okay, must be off now…
Six years ago, I was v nervous. I had a date with this goofy guy named George that I’d met at a pub a few nights before. Eeep, a boyyyy!
I’m so glad I have been blogging since 2001. It’s funny to go back and read my posts from way back when. Like my bitter diatribe about Valentine’s Day, which just happened to be my last single Valentine’s Day.
I didn’t write much about those early days, because what if George was reading? But there are a few little clues here and there. It got better later on in our relationship. I wrote more about the times like when we bought our house, when we got engaged, and of course about our wedding.
(I just like posting that picture because I was so thin then. Speaking of, I’m starting back on WW this week. Heh.)
Who could have ever possibly guessed that those innocent kids from six years ago would end up like this?
Wow! See, now, I’m glad I was all pathetic ‘n’ stuff yesterday. Now I know I really am writing for more than five people. Maybe now I’ll actually update the blog a bit more. I’ll try.
I promise Linus didn’t cry long in that picture I posted yesterday. As a thank you for commenting, here are some smiles, in video form…
(And yes, as an added bonus, you get to hear me sounding like an idiot.)
I just wanna know. Who is reading? Please? Tell me. Comment. You don’t have to sign in, just comment anonymously.
Is this pathetic? I don’t care. Bring a tiny bit of joy to my life by leaving a note in the comments. If not, you will make a baby cry.
Okay, I’m going to try this post via email thing. I haven’t done it in a while. Hopefully it’ll work.
Yesterday the boys had their first “sick” visit to the pediatrician. They’ve had a yucky cough for a few days, and early Monday morning, Linus had a fever. So I took them in (with Auntie Steph) and found out (for the low, low price of $90 worth of copays) that they’re fine. Nothing major. Ah well. They’ll be fine in a couple of days.
We had a fun weekend. Saturday the boys and I went to a friend’s house for a little while. The weather was just beautiful and we hung out on her back patio. Later, we headed to a crawfish boil, but before I could completely stuff myself with crawfish, corn, potatoes, mushrooms, etc, the boys started fussing. So we headed out and went to another crawfish boil. Only for a few minutes, and unfortunately I didn’t make it to the crawfish at this one. Booo!
On Sunday I took Miles and Linus shopping with me. We went to Babies R Us, Whole Foods, and the cheaper grocery store. I got lots of compliments on my cute little twins. Ha! If only they knew… That night, I actually cooked dinner – a pot of chicken chili from a cooking show I’d watched that morning. I was highly ambitious. I won’t be trying that again – we didn’t eat until 9:00, and I go to bed at 10! I didn’t sleep well that night. I kept burping up cilantro. Ha ha! Ew.
We haven’t attempted spoon-feeding the boys cereal again. Maybe we’ll try it again this week. No rush.
I don’t have any new pictures to post, and I’m not sure if I can even post pictures via email. Here’s an old one, just to test…
(That’s Oliver, sitting in my lap at the park, a couple of weekends ago.)
Last week, we decided to let the boys try rice cereal. Let’s just say we’re going to wait a little while before we try again. Heh.
Linus is first up.
I think he likes it!
Or does he?
Well, Daddy definitely does, anyway.
(Yes. George is disgusting.)
Miles is next.
Can’t say he’s thrilled with it.
Quite the opposite, in fact.
Well, we tried!
Daddy still likes it!
Oliver goes last.
He doesn’t seem too impressed.
Four months old!
Yeah, no duh, that was 11 days ago! Well, I’ve been busy. So there. And their ped appointment was on the 11th, so I didn’t want to post before then anyway. Geez, get off my back!
First, the cuteness:
Linus: 14#9.5oz (50th); 25″ long (50th); HC 41.5cm (25-50th)
Oliver: 14#11oz (50th); 24.5″ long (25-50th); HC 43.5cm (50-75th)
Miles: 13#15oz (25-50th); 24.25″ long (25-50th); HC 42cm (50th)
To compare, at 3 months:
Linus: 12 lbs, 14.5 oz (25-50th percentile); 23.75″ long (25-50th percentile)
Oliver: 13 lbs, 5 oz (50th percentile); 23.75″ long (25-50th percentile)
Miles: 12 lbs, 7.5 oz (25th percentile); 22.75″ long (10th percentile)
So they’re growing, yes indeed!
I’d love to make a longer post about how they’re doing, but I’ll have to save that for later. Right now a baby is crying, I need to finish my coffee and get them ready for school. 🙂
Too tired for anything but pictures from the past week…
(jenny, turn that one)
And with that, I’m off to sleep. Maybe I’ll add the captions later. Or you can go to my flickr account if you really want to know what they mean…
Just a quick post to say we had a fantastic, if exhausting weekend. Full recap to come later. The boys got a ton of great gifts at their christening, but many of the bags were without tags or cards, so I don’t know who to thank. Can you leave a comment letting me know what you gave them? Obviously if you just gave them a card, or if you know you wrote on the tag, don’t worry about it. But there were a few bags (from Adler’s, and the one with the fuzzy duck that I was told about, but for the life of me, I can’t remember WHO told me about the fuzzy duck, sigh…)
Boys start daycare today. Well, two of them. Miles is spending a few days with Grandee and his aunts and uncles and cousins in Baton Rouge. I miss my little guy!
Just a quick post, because I need to go to sleep. Thank goodness Sarah (the night nanny we got after Olga left to go on vacation) is here tonight. I’d forgotten to tell George that she was coming tonight, so when I mentioned it a few minutes before he arrived, he was so excited that we’d get to sleeeep. And then I had to say “April Fool’s!” He was not amused. At least it wasn’t really an April Fool’s joke. That would have been downright cruel.
Had a pretty low-key weekend. Went to a friend’s birthday party on Friday night (the boys came too) and then for most of the weekend we just cleaned. In preparation for the housecleaner that’s coming tomorrow afternoon. You know how that goes. I’m so excited about the cleaner – she’s a gift from some very dear friends who are paying for her to work her magic. Yay!
Lots of people think we should be famous or something for having identical triplets. I guess because I know so many other triplet moms with identicals (like these ladies, fr’instance) that it just doesn’t seem THAT unique. And kind of unfair if I get free diapers and they (or every other mom of triplets) don’t. I mean, what in the world did I do to deserve free stuff? I didn’t go through the heartache and pain that many moms of triplets have to go through, when their kids come from fertility treatments. I think sometimes I feel some kind of guilt for this. Having it come so easily to us. Talk about unfair. I could go on and on, but I won’t, because it can be a sensitive subject (duh) and if I do, I’d probably end up sticking my foot in my mouth at some point. But you get the idea.
So if we don’t get splashed all over the national news and if we don’t get years of free diapers, it’s okay. We already won the lottery. I mean, look:
(Is Miles giving Oliver a wet willie? Kinda looks like it.)
