Last night, I got up sometime in the middle of the freaking night to tend to a coughing toddler. I don’t know who it was, because of course he stopped before I could determine who it was. That always happens. It’s like, I don’t need to give them medicine or anything to stop the coughing. I just need to get woken up, walk to their room, and stand there for a little while. That’s all.Β It’s pretty handy, but kind of a pain in the rear.
After I got the coughing stopped by my mere presence, I went into the bathroom to wash my hands. And the scent of the hand soap, plus that particular breed of exhaustion that only comes at 2 am, transported me instantly back about 26 months.
I don’t remember much about that time (I think that’s an evolutionary thing) but apparently I used this soap a lot:

It was a weird feeling. Not entirely unpleasant, actually. I think I might put away the rest of that soap so I don’t dilute the memories, you know? I mean, who’d want to forget this?

Twenty Little Toes
That happens to me sometimes, you know, when it starts feeling like old days.
I remind myself that (thank God o thank God)the worse is over.
You’ve come a long way with your triplets. cheers to that!!

I know exactly what you mean when a scent can bring you right back to a time and place. And isn’t it amazing that your mind looks back at difficult times with beautiful nostalgia!

Too funny. I have a similar scent memory triger reaction. I switched from Pampers diapers pretty early because they were a fortune, but whenever I smell one, I immediately am brought back to when the boys were in the NICU.

My sister always has worn the same perfume, so her kids will have memories of her when they smell it! That is pretty amazing that the smell of your soap did that! And you’re right… How’d want to forget? Adorable!
