I think the best way to incorporate fruits and veggies is a Smoothie 🙂 Walmart sells a really nice smoothie make cheap if you need one. It is like $17. 🙂 You could also get a juicer and juice for breakfast…

Always keep fruits & veggies at hand for nibbles. I get baby carrots and snack on them a lot.
    Thanks for the contest.

I make big batches of rice and beans that I can keep in the fridge for a few days . It is the perfect filling snack (or meal!). The variations are endless- spanish rice, creamy rice, pesto risotto, pilaf, saffron, etc. Beans can be black, pinto, refried, black-eyed peas, etc.

    Thanks for the contest! 🙂

I like making cheese with plain yogurt. Drain it and mix with fresh herbs and then eat it with veggies as a dip.

I like to ‘saute’ green beans in broth with cherry tomatoes and a little black pepper, dash of salt & fresh basil Green beans are quickly blanched, then shocked in cold water before starting the saute. Cherry tomatoes are added the last 3 mins. Someone I know uses a similar recipe but sautes in Italian dressing.
I also like to eat a banana with a dab of peanut butter. For fruit salads I like to make a dressing from one cup plain yogurt with a touch of honey or one cup sugar free vanilla yogurt: cut into chunks enough seasonal fruit to make 4 cups, add dressing and allow to chill for at least an hour or more if possible. Depending on the fruit, a 1/4 tsp of poppy seeds can be added to the dressing.

Chop up and boil your veggies-carrots,beans,brocolli, cauliflower, potatos etc in water seasoned with salt and pepper. Saute them lightly in olive oil with onions and throw this into pre-cooked long grain rice to make a wholesome healthy yummy vegetable pilaf!

My favorite vegetable of all time is asparagus. I love to steam it and eat it with butter (or margarine, if you prefer). I could eat it every other day. 6 lbs. may seem like a drop in the bucket but it’s a great start; congrats!

I like to steam vegetables (broccoli, carrots, onions, peppers) and use a little teriyaki sauce to give them some flavor. You can serve them over rice.

My go-to snack to quell salty/crunchy cravings during my own weightloss journey has been almonds. Very satisfying and full of protein and healthy fats too. 🙂

Congrats to you and good luck going forward!

I love love love mangoes. But let me specify…ALFONSO mangoes. NOT those nasty pine-tree tasting, grainy green/red ones you usually find in your local grocery store. Go to an Indian or Mexican grocer in the spring and fall. That is when they are in season. They are smaller and yellow orange in color. They are shaped like a kidney. They are WONDERFUL! I peel and eat them right over the kitchen sink! You can also use them in smoothies and salsas!

Baked carrots with a little brown sugar (or splenda brown sugar) sprinkled on them are fantastic!

And I love steamed green beans with slivered almonds mixed in and just a few drizzles of olive oil. Delish!

Good luck on your continuing journey!

Easy way to get a fruit serving and treat at the same time is a baked apple. Core it and drop in a little cinnamon, a few nuts and honey. Yummy.

My favorite is fruit salad with low–fat yogurt as the dressing. It’s easy to make and can include as many kinds of fruits as I like.
