Haha, I am happy to report that I, too, don’t *get* smocking. I have a boy and a girl. I am not a Southerner though (not sure what you classify a Coloradan as, but I don’t know that I’m a Yankee either?). It’s nice to know where it all came from though, as I see it on Zulily and stuff and go “huh?!”
I think they are cute…. but my boyfriend would never let me buy any lol so we don’t actually own any. I only think they would be cute on little babies though.

I am a smocked romper loving girl but on a boy I say you are pushing it if you wear it past age 2.
