Oh boy. It’s been well over a month since I last posted. I’m pretty sure this is the first time in almost twenty years that I went a month without a post. I don’t like that.
Edit: I just looked. I’ve posted every month since August 2001. 🤯
We may have finished the monthly pictures, but the boys have been together on the fourth for the past two months, so I have unofficial pictures from those two months.
Kiki came to visit after Miles moved out, and she helped me clean out their room. I need to take “afters” but trust me when I say it’s so much better. And we got a tattoo we’ve been planning for months! (it’s a dancing Jarvis from Pulp.)
I finally hosted a book club meeting! It was very exciting. The boys had their first day of class! Ziggy likes to hang out in Miles’s bed. 🙁 I went to the beach! I also have been sewing. I made an Elsa dress and an Olaf for my friend’s kids, plus a matching shirt and shorts set from fabric I got at Mood, and a pair of shorts from fabric I got in Portland. I also made a quilt for my friend’s impending baby.
And various other things. Dinner and drinks with my fellow empty-nester moms. The boys at home at various times. I made my friend Terry a book.
People ask me how I’m coping with the empty nest. It’s awesome. So quiet and clean and I hardly have to cook, and when I do, I can use vegetables! Of course I miss the boys, but it’s hard to miss them too much when I see at least one of them almost every weekend. (I wrote a post about it for the local parenting blog.)
Later this month, I’m going to spend a little time in Virginia, and before we know it, the boys will be home for Thanksgiving.
