I saw this really cute quilt on Instagram and needed to make my own, stat. So I hit the thrift store, cut up some shirts, and voila! Quilt. I did not use all Ralph Lauren shirts like the original quilter did, I just chose 100% cotton shirts with plaids I liked. A couple of the prints were not shirts at all, but fabric I had in my stash.

I cut out too many squares, so I made a little stripe down the back side. And I left the pocket on a couple of the squares. Not for any other reason than that it’s fun. POCKETS ARE FUN.

I also rounded the corners, because I thought it would look neat, and so I wouldn’t have to miter the corners, but I should have made the curve a bit larger, and I should have used binding cut on the bias. Oh well. Next time. Live and learn.
I guess this quilt is almost entirely thrifted, because the backing is a thrifted sheet. Instead of batting, I used a sheet I’d bought for one of the boys’ quilts but didn’t need. Love using up stuff like that!
