Ouch.

Just practicing for March 5, the day after the half marathon I just signed up for. I know, it’s not very far off, but I’ve done halfs on less training than this. Not that it’s smart, but whatever. I’m spontaneous, man.

Love this:

One of the reasons I’m most excited to do this* is that George promised he would bring the boys to the finish line. They’ve never done that, and just the thought gets me a little choked up. Even though I’m sure the boys will say things like, “whatcha running for, Mommy?” and “why are you running, Mommy?” and “you are stinky, Mommy!” but that’s okay.

*the only one, actually.

Oh, did you think I was done posting pictures of sweet baby girls?

No indeed. I was also lucky to meet my college roommate’s daughter Grace this weekend. Oh, the stories I’ll be able to tell this baby in about 18 years! Hee hee!

My birthday buddy!

I already posted a picture of Ann Fran from Saturday, but here are more from our big photo shoot. Love this baby!

Another shot of the sweet Ann Frances! I spent many hours with this baby and once we got her sleeping, she was quite the model. Yet this one of her munching on Daddy’s nose has to be among my favorites. I am dying!

My poor children and their homemade Saints shirts. I’m just too cheap to buy three $30 jerseys that they’ll outgrow in a year. So $5 homemade t-shirts it is! Or I could have put them in these shirts but I think they might be a tad small by now.

(Now, if the Saints go to the Superbowl, I might rethink that decision, but for now…)

PS Did you know you can follow my blog on Facebook?

Ahh, Ollie. My accident-prone little man got a cut on his head in his hair, so his teacher gave him this cool "head wrap". He’s very proud of it. Looks like he just came back from a war.

I went to visit Ann Frances (she was Baby Fran the other day. Mom and Dad haven’t decided what to call her yet) before going to dinner with my triplet moms. I had her model the sweet little headband I bought off Etsy the moment I found out she was a girl.

Can’t wait for our photo session on Saturday!

P.S. Due to server issues, my blog was down all day yesterday. Hopefully it won’t happen again…

People who know me well will be surprised to find out I made this tonight for dinner. A pan of homemade (and obviously streamlined) bolognese sauce.

They’ll be even more surprised to hear that I loved it! And even more surprised that the boys tried it!

Woo hoo!

Birthday recap

Yesterday was my birthday. I love birthdays. Some people don’t get all excited about birthdays, don’t make a big deal about them, but I am not one of those people. I don’t think one day is enough, frankly, but what can you do?

The day held so much potential even without it being the 37th anniversary of my birth. Some giant college football game was being held right by my office, so we were being let off a bit early. And a friend had her c-section scheduled for that day.

The celebration started on Saturday, when I got a new bag from my in-laws, which they gave me when we dropped the boys off. George took me to dinner at an Indian restaurant (yum), and then we went to the pub to watch the Saints win. (I’m not a football fan, but I don’t mind watching playoff games when our team is doing well.)

I got to sleep in on Sunday, and that afternoon, George and I went to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I love going to movies. Love. After the movie, we picked up the boys and went home.

Monday was my actual birthday! Woo! I opened a card I got from Kiki, and brought the boys to school. When I got there, I checked my phone and learned that my friend’s baby was a girl! So my prediction was wrong…I thought for sure it was going to be a boy! I left work at noon and met my friend Teresa at a restaurant for lunch. We had a delicious meal, topped off by cheesecake and a champagne cocktail (and a birthday song by inebriated LSU fans at the next table.)

Next, the two of us picked up a birthday cake for me and the baby and brought it to the hospital, where we spent some time with the family. I love snuggling (not-so) tiny newborns! (Baby Fran, at 8 lbs, 6 oz, was exactly twice the size of Miles. Hard to imagine.)

After our visit, we went back to the grocery store so I could get a little cake to bring home (we left the other one at the hospital) I picked up the boys from school, and had pizza for dinner. I am very pleased to say that the boys ATE their pizza. Even with a tiny bit of sauce on it! And then they sang happy birthday to me.

I also got a package from my sister. Hmm. These shoes make me 6’3″. Hmm.

Once they were in bed, my friend Terry and I left to go see New Year’s Eve (told you I love movies!) while the rest of the city watched the football game. We were entertained by the movie, and when it was over, she checked her texts and saw that my alma mater had not done very well. As I mentioned before, I don’t really care about football, so I wasn’t too upset.

That was my birthday. Not too shabby, eh?

Being born is really hard work. Just ask Miss Fran, who was born this morning. Yes, that’s right, she is exactly 37 27 years younger than me! Very exciting. Sweet baby girl has the squishiest cheeks, just like her big sister did when she was born. Can’t wait til Saturday when I’ll be taking pictures of her!

(Amusingly, here is an earlier picture she’s in.)

I Heart Faces – Best Face Photo of 2011

It was hard to pick my favorite photo of 2011. I wanted one with all three boys in it, and of those, this was definitely my favorite. Even though it’s a portrait, it definitely captures their personalities and some of that 3 year old mischief.

I also love that Oliver is clutching an armload of trains in one hand, and Miles’s hand in the other. Two of their favorite things on earth – trains and their brothers.
