Oy.

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. We left for San Antonio last Sunday, and the day before, we were all sick as dogs. Actually, I was also sick on Thursday. So yeah, fun times.

The trip was rough. The boys don’t like riding in cars nearly as much as they used to. There was a lot of screaming. A lot. We were able to stay with my cousin Willa and her husband Ed on Sunday night in Galveston. I wish we could have stayed longer, it’s such a neat area. We’ll have to take the boys when they’re older. And can be tranquilized. I kid, I kid!

Anyway, some exciting milestones were hit on the trip. Oliver started sleeping through the night! And I’m talking twelve hours, without waking up. He’s done it now for 5 or 6 nights! Wooo hoo! I was worried he was only going to do it at the hotel, but he did it at home last night. And guess what? So did Miles! Oh come on, Linus, tonight would be a GREAT night to catch up with your brothers!

More fun stuff – they’re playing with toys! They started batting at the toy bars on their car seats during the trip (like, what else were they gonna do in the car for 12 hours?) and laughing more and “talking” more and are just getting to be so fun! They’re also teething, I think, which may have accounted for some of their crankiness on the trip.

They completely charmed the entire hotel we stayed at, staff and guests alike. Little stinkers! 🙂 Here they are in the shirts Aunt Kristie sent them…

Oh yeah, we took them swimming for the first time! I only got pictures of Miles. He didn’t seem too impressed, to be honest…

10 years gone

My dad had a great sense of humor. And he loved kids. I can’t imagine any other reason I had spontaneous identical triplets. He was looking down at me and George (a son-in-law he would have loved…they could have teased me together, imagine the fun!) and thought, you know what would be hilarious?

So between rounds at the great Golf Course in the Sky, I know he’s getting a good laugh out of all this. I hope he’s proud, too.

Thanks, Dad. We miss you. I can’t believe it’s been ten years since I saw you. I hate that you’re missing out on all this fun, but I guess you’re not, are you? We’re going to make sure all five of your grandchildren know what a silly, fun, kind, generous, and loyal Grandpa they have up in heaven.

Ellen onesies

Oh yeah, I should have mentioned this….the onesies have all of the babies’ names on them, and each baby has his or her name highlighted in red. so it says
linusolivermiles (etc etc) hearts ellen!

TGIF

Thank goodness it’s Friday. No, for real. It’s been a rough week. Sick children, yucky weather, and more sick children. All are well now, though, and we have a fun weekend to look forward to. I’m getting a haircut! And a brow wax! It’s been embarrassingly long since I’ve had either, so you can imagine my excitment.

In other, random, exciting things, the boys’ nursery was featured on this design website, ohdeedoh.com

Hmmm. That’s it. Have a good weekend! I’ll post if the news thing is on Sunday or if they post it online or something.

5/15/08

I know, I need to post. It’s been a few days. Let’s see…

Well, George’s birthday was yesterday. But I can’t say it was very exciting. Miles’s eyes were swollen and a little goopy, and the weather was horrible, so we didn’t go anywhere. I cooked some fish that my boss had caught out in the Gulf. It was yummy. Poor George, he doesn’t even like fish very much!

Let’s just hope that Miles is all better by Sunday, the big day! I think he will be. He was already much better by this morning.

Next week, Kristina is coming for her visit. I’m so excited for her to meet the boys! We’ll be leaving the following Sunday for the big road trip to San Antonio. Me, Kristina, and the boys. Fuuun! Hopefully we’ll be staying overnight in the Houston area so we don’t have to make the entire trip in one day. It’s going to be an adventure, that’s for sure!

See, not much is going on right now. I’ll have to take some pictures of the boys so I can post them and make this a little more interesting…

My first Mother’s Day and 5 month stats

Hope all the mommies out there had a nice Mother’s Day. Mine was pretty good. The weather was beautiful, our moms came over, and we ate steak. It was nice. The boys posed for a picture with me. I think it’s probably the last time I’ll be able to hold them all at the same time. They’re getting so big!

On Friday the boys had their five month ped visit. They’re huuuuge! And the biggest news is that Linus is now bigger than Oliver!

Linus: 15#12oz (25-50th); 26″ long (50-75th); HC 42.5cm (25-50th)
Oliver: 15#11oz (25-50th); 26.5″ long (75th); HC 43cm (25-50th)
Miles: 15#0.5oz (25th); 26″ long (50th); HC 42.5cm (25-50th)

Miles is now rolling both ways. Oliver can roll front-to-back and so can Linus, I think. I’m not sure if I’ve witnessed those two doing back to front like Miles. They’re all babbling all the time, and the best part is to each other. It’s so cute to watch. Oliver is a champion thumb-sucker. They now sleep unswaddled, just in their sleep sacks, which has made for some rough nights lately. Like last night. Let’s just say I’m wearing my glasses today, not my contacts. That’s something I only do when I can’t have the weight of contacts weighing down my already heavy eyes. Zzzzz.

The ped says when they start eating solids, they should drop their middle of the night feeding. Man, I hope so. They still show no interest in eating off spoons:

Obviously, they don’t mind having it around their mouth. Just not in it.

Linus had pinkeye last week. He looked like a pirate. Arrrgh!

On Sunday, the boys are getting filmed for the news again. Did I already mention that? Anyway. Exciting! I’ll post more details when we have them.

Edited to add: Just goes to show how tired I am. I already posted their new stats. And about the news thing. oh well. zzzzzz.

5/9/08

Linus is much better, whew! And it doesn’t look like the other boys are going to get whatever it was. (I’m still not 100% convinced it’s pink eye, since he’s the only one who got it, but whatever.) Today we go to the ped for their 5 month visit. Usually, our visits aren’t very exciting. But today we’ll have lots to talk about. They’ve been sick with, what, three different things in the past month. They’ve attempted solids. They’ve started rolling over. It’s all very exciting stuff. I can’t wait to see what they weigh. Anyone want to guess? Your prize is the triplet of your choice!

Their stats at their 4 month visit were:
Linus: 14#9.5oz (50th); 25″ long (50th); HC 41.5cm (25-50th)
Oliver: 14#11oz (50th); 24.5″ long (25-50th); HC 43.5cm (50-75th)
Miles: 13#15oz (25-50th); 24.25″ long (25-50th); HC 42cm (50th)

We have other exciting things coming up. Sunday is obviously my first Mother’s Day. I don’t expect exciting gifts (but I can’t wait for the days of pasta necklaces and glittery cards) but our moms are coming over and we’re going to grill steaks. Yum! The following Sunday is our playdate with the triplets and quads. All ten babies will get to meet for the first time! I’m very excited for that. And then Kristina is coming to visit. Yay! She hasn’t met the boys yet, so it’s going to be very fun. We’re driving to San Antonio because I have a conference for work, and I can’t leave the boys at home for a week. She’s going to get to know them very very well.

So yeah, good stuff!

Stuff

Well, I don’t really have much to say new today, I just wanted to post because I’m addicted to comments. So help a poor girl out and comment! Heh.

I should say HI DEBBIE that was a very cheesy comment you left, but it was sweet. Thanks. And everyone else who left sweet/cheesy comments…thanks.

Next Wednesday I go to my next doctor’s appointment. I have no idea what’s going to happen. I don’t think there’s going to be an u/s (darn) and they didn’t give me a cup to bring my pee in (yeah, nice eh? Nothing better than walking around all day with urine in your purse) but I think that may have been an oversight so I’m going to call the doctor to see if I this is a BYOU party. Also, I don’t think they can check the heart rates with a regular heart rate checker thingy, because there are so many in there (but if anyone reading this can dispute that, let me know. I could be wrong.) So I don’t know what he’s going to do. Well, except answer the eighty million questions I have.

Okay, I should talk about non-triplets stuff. How about how we’re going to Virginia in 8 days? Yippeeee! Ellie and Emmy! Yay!

I really should get ready for work now. Probably that’s best, since I’m being v boring this morning.

June 18, 2004

Doctor’s appointment cancelled. Don’t you love it when you do that? When you take time off work, and then drive to the doctor’s office, only to be told “he had to do an emergency c-section, so he’s running an hour late?” Okay, fine, so he can’t forsee emergency c-sections, but can’t his office call so I don’t have to drive there? Please.

Oh good news…talked to my mom last night, she and I are going to go to DC instead of New Jersey. Not that I’m not a little sorry not to go to NJ (I’ve never been and I like visiting new places) but Kristina and Chris and Anne etc etc etc are in DC so I get to see them all and it’s way more exciting for me that way. Yay!

06/18/04

Yay, Friday! Yay, payday! Boo, doctor’s appointment!

Went to Outback last night with George. Didn’t do too badly on points, if the Health Discovery website I found is right. Please, God, let it be right! Filet mignon, salad, (and yeeeah, I ate the cheese and croutons!) steamed veggies, and beer. 21 point meal, but only ended up using 4.5 flex points as I went to dinner with 14 points left, and I’d exercised so I had some activity points. Yay!

Blueberry pickin’ on Sunday, then jam makin’. Hope it’s not hard to make jam. Hmmm.

06/17/04

I have a very sweet boyfriend. Yesterday I was sad because the cruise I was supposed to go on for work (and make masses of overtime money on) was cancelled. So he took me to Winn-Dixie and bought all of the boxes of sugar-free popsicles they have left. (Another addiction of mine. 15 calories each. You must get the Popsicle brand, they’re the best. But can be expensive. W-D had them on sale for the outrageously low price of two 24-count boxes for $5. Insane.) So that was four boxes. 96 popsicles. Now only 93. Yum. These should last me a few weeks, at least. Yay!

Rode bike with Polly this morning. It is so friggin’ hot and humid already, and it’s not even technically summer yet, right? Blech.

Just read my comments from the past few days. (Love comments!) First, I may ask Debbie if they plan on leaving Fufu as her middle name. Good idea. (Now I wish her name was Ping-ping. That is really cute.) Also, I didn’t weigh myself this morning! Okay, I lie a little. I did, but after I had gotten up and drank some water and put my shoes on. That’s not a real weigh-in, so I think it’s okay. Baby steps. And also, I have measured myself. If I recall correctly, I’ve lost something like 2 inches off my hips and 2 or 3 off my waist. Most of my weight, I think, has come off my top half – arms and shoulders and such. Which is okay, but my hips are my worst part. But I am pleased with the inches lost. See, I know the scale isn’t everything. Tomorrow I go to the doctor for a checkup. I hope the nurse notices how much weight I’ve lost in the last year!
