Two short videos

If you know George at all, you understand what a big deal this is:

And Miles finds lip-smacking highly amusing.

Mommy finds it gross if there’s a half-chewed bean on his lip.

Easter egg hunt

This weekend was our triplet group’s Easter egg hunt. I helped organize it last year, too, and I have to say, this year went much better for me, at least. Last year, the boys literally would not let go of me. This year, they actually attempted to find some eggs.

They got like, one each. Maybe next year they’ll be more interested in finding them. But I’ll tell you, even though there were probably 400 eggs in the park, they were gone in less than five minutes. I’m not kidding, it was kind of incredible how fast they were all picked up. So at least they got one. Heh.

These girls tried to help the boys, but they just weren’t getting it.

Now these girls, they got it.

Uh oh. The boys found the chocolate chip cookies…

Uh oh.

Coming down from a cookie high.

These are most of the kids that came. I love looking at this and comparing it to last year’s. They’ve all gotten so big!

That's a lot of kids!

In denial?

I’m sure it was just a fluke. Please tell me, it was just a fluke.

I finally broke down on Friday and bought a potty. Not because we’re ready to potty train, but because I figured we should just have one and let them look at it and maybe sit on it, whatever. I knew I’d be giving them baths that night, so I thought it would be a good time to try it out. I didn’t think they’d actually do anything, you know?

But maybe they’re showing signs of readiness. Or something. They know that “Shrek go potty!” at the beginning of the movie. If that’s not a sign of readiness, I don’t know what is. And then I start to get all paranoid that I’m going to miss some crucial potty training window. That if I don’t address it now, they’ll be in diapers til they’re ten.

So I bought the freaking potty.

And Oliver pooped in it. (Sorry. At least I didn’t take a picture of it. Ha ha ha! Ew.)

And I was so stunned that I wasn’t sure what to do. I praised him and then threw him in the tub and then freaked out inside.

After talking to some other moms, I’m a little calmer. I don’t have to potty train him right away. I can just keep putting him on it whenever the mood strikes. But I think when I do get a little more serious about potty training, we’ll do it one at a time, and start with Oliver.

So I’m going to believe it was a fluke, and not that my kid is some kind of pooping genius.

Am I doing this right?

Oliver’s not letting go of that cookie!

This is after the boys found the bowl of chocolate chip cookies at our triplet group’s annual Easter egg hunt.

When the boys were teeny-tiny, I called them my “bunnies”. It drove George nuts, but whatever, that was my nickname for them.

I guess Oliver’s still my bunny. The other two refused their ears. Heh.

What else?

So I’ve been neglecting the blog in favor of just posting the daily pictures, so I’m going to try to make up for that now. (But hey, I’ve made it halfway through March with the picture-a-day thing…not bad, eh?)

March has turned out to be extraordinarily busy. Last weekend was the huge gathering of moms of multiples, and that was amazing. But kept me very busy in the weeks beforehand.

(But we found a way to unwind.)

This weekend is our triplet group’s Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday morning, which I’m co-hosting. And then Saturday night is our friend’s bachelor/bachelorette party (yes, one party for both) and hopefully Sunday we’ll get to recover.

The weekend after is the rehearsal dinner and wedding. The weekend after that is April, but it doesn’t stop. Easter, don’t you know.

And then the weekend after that…oooh! It’s free! Whew.

The weekend after that is our neighborhood garage sale. Oh, and speaking of getting rid of crap, I have until Saturday afternoon to tag a boatload of the boys’ clothes to bring to a consignment sale.

In between all that, I need to buy a wedding present. And catch up on the shows on the DVR (very important!) And gather stuff for the garage sale. And I really want to replace the sink in my bathroom with a vanity. (If we can manage to do this before the garage sale, I can sell the nice pedestal sink there.)

Whew. George says I do too much. But who else is going to do it?

I’m glad the weather’s nice. It’s fun to come home from picking up the boys and throw them in the yard and let them play. Our yard looks like a plastic factory exploded in it, but whatever. It keeps the boys happy and they let off some steam before dinner. That’s always nice.

If they’re not carrying DVDs around, it’s chairs. Weirdos.

I got the boys this see-saw toy at a consignment sale today. It really is only supposed to fit two kids, but they made it work for three. Sorta. If you look at the next pictures, you’ll see that Oliver tumbled off about half a second after this was taken.
