Due to their obsession du jour (literally, they woke up this morning desperate for Curious George and the book where he makes pancakes) I agreed to make pancakes for the boys for dinner tonight. And (as I already posted on FB and was rightfully mocked for saying) DAMN, a griddle makes it a thousand times easier!

I Heart Faces – Linus is cool.

Linus is cool., originally uploaded by pyjammy.

For the first time, I’m entering a photo over at the weekly I Heart Faces challenge. This week’s challenge is “Got to Wear Shades” and here’s my entry. That would be Linus, wearing my sunglasses. They look pretty good on him, though, don’t you think?

Super fun weekend!

It was an awesome, fun weekend, but I am so happy it’s Monday because it was also exhausting.

Friday night, the fun started with a trip to the grocery store. Okay, maybe the fun started on Saturday…

Saturday, the day started bright ‘n’ early for my friend Regan‘s son’s birthday party. My friend Alex was riding with us to the party, so on the way to her house, I had to stop at a Walgreens to get a card (which I of course forgot to leave at the party. Duh.) The boys were pretty good, but when we got to the checkout, the cashier was all, “COME SEEEEE! IT’S IDENTICAL TRIPLETS!!!” and of course every woman over 50 came to see the freak show boys and ooh and aah over them. If I sound like I’m complaining, I’m really not. You know I love the attention. Heh.

On to the zoo for the party. I’d been hyping up the zoo for days, and the boys were v excited to see the animals. I was v excited to eat cake. The party was very nice, the cake was yummy, and we got tickets to ride the carousel, which was a HUGE hit. I don’t have any pictures on the carousel, because that puppy was spinning fast, and it was all I could do to keep the boys from flying off and from vomiting myself. But I do have some party pics…

Mmm, cake!

The birthday boy. And yes, his eyes really are that blue. (And the lipstick on the cheek kills me.)

After the party, the boys played on the playground at the zoo with the other kids, and it was the first time I could sit on the bench and just let them play. That was awesome. That’s one part of this age I’m really liking.

Oh wait! I forgot, we did have something Friday. It was the boys’ “award ceremony” at daycare. It’s really a graduation for the kids going on the kindergarden, but we can’t leave out the little ones, right? Well, the boys were not thrilled that they had to sit with the kids and Mommy had to sit by the Mommies.

Notice no other kids are crying….

(I can’t remember all the awards they got, but there was a “Knows His ABCs” somewhere in there.)

There’s more to the weekend, but I need a break. Will post more later.

“Take that, shark!!!!”

Oliver saving us all from a shark attack with just a pool noodle. Thanks, Ollie!

Me and the boys at a friend’s son’s first birthday party. (Miles – Oliver – Linus)

Obviously I didn’t take the picture. And it’s black and white because that masked my makeup-less face better. Heh.

Today the boys had their awards ceremony at daycare (really, it was the older kids’ “graduation” so I guess they had to do something for the younger kids) and they were not happy that I had to sit with the mommies and they had to sit with the kids. Not happy at all.

(This is Linus. And check out my uber-moody black and whites I did of Miles and Oliver. Heh.)

I got two pictures of the boys reading their Dinosaur books (The “How Do Dinosaurs…” series by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague – I adore these books, and have ever since I worked in the children’s department at Barnes & Noble eight years ago) today. This one won out to be the Picture of the Day because of Oliver’s face, mainly. (Oliver-Miles-Linus)

This morning’s picture is over here.

The boys were being so cute, “reading” this morning. If you want to see more (god forbid), there’s a longer video from this morning here.

I am fancy. And other weekend stuff too.

I already posted one picture from Friday’s dinner, but now I’m going to post more details about it, so I can go back and remind myself about the time I was fancy.

So the dinner was for my friend Alicia’s birthday. A milestone birthday that actually took place last year, but her husband was very sick and she was very pregnant, so the timing wasn’t great to celebrate it then. So she invited about a dozen of her closest girlfriends to dine at the restaurant where her husband (now fully recovered) is the executive chef.

I mean, the man has his name on the plates. That is fancy!

When we got into the private room, it was decorated beautifully (as you saw in Friday’s picture) and fancy cocktails were served, along with fancy champagne and fancy wine (the kind that doesn’t come from a box.)

Of course the food was amazing…the menu:

The dessert:

Ahh, it was fancy.

The rest of the weekend wasn’t quite as fancy, but it was pretty fun. I took the boys to Target to pick up some medicine, but to bribe them, I first got them popcorn at the Target cafe (definitely not fancy.)

Then we went to my cousin’s house for dinner (somewhat fancy) and the boys played with matchbox cars.

On Sunday, I packed the boys up to go to the Northshore to hang out with Ren and her girls. First, we went to a splashpad (place with lots of fountains for kids to run around in) at the Mandeville trailhead (for locals who are wondering) but the boys were having none of it. Sigh. They just stood around and watched the other kids.

After that, we fed them lunch, Ren put them down for a nap (bless her) and then we went to her mom’s house for swimming, which thank goodness the boys participated in. I wish I had pictures of them in the pool, but since I was in the pool, making sure they weren’t drowning, that wasn’t possible. I do, however, have a picture of Linus with the “baby whale” he floated with.

They also ate a lot of chips.

And then we came home and that was the end of our tiring but fun weekend.

Mama needs a nap.

Doesn’t this look like a still from an old movie from the 60s? Yeah, more fun with Lightroom.

This was taken today when I took the boys to one of those parks with all the fountains for them to run through. Alas, they do not like getting sprayed with water, so they stood on the side and watched the other kids do it.
