Stuff and things

It’s been a busy week, and I should probably save this post until tomorrow once swimming lessons are over and the camp play has been performed, but that’ll just have to be in another post.

The biggest thing for me was my dental procedure. It was pretty bad in an entertaining way. Let me show you some of the photos I took…

Here’s the “tooth” (on the left) I had work done to. I say “tooth” because there’s really not a tooth there. Just a bridge and a root canal. But all that had to go because of a stupid abscess on my gums. Argh!

And here’s an x-ray that was done after my dentist dug around in my jaw to remove the root. There’s a tiny little piece at the bottom of the right root that just didn’t want to come out. All I can say is “ouch”. Times a million. There isn’t enough novocaine in the world for that little bit of evil.

Earlier I posted the cadaver bone they filled the resulting hole with, and this is my pathetic face after:

I spent the rest of the evening on the sofa, watching “21 Jump Street” (you can see my office in part of it, during the high speed chase) and comforting myself with Kraft Mac & Cheese. (I will not apologize for this Dukan indiscretion.)

Happily, I woke up the next morning with no major pain or swelling, only the taste of death and dirty socks in my mouth (thanks to the antibiotic they mix into the bone) which was fairly easily remedied. And later, George and I saw Spiderman before picking up the boys from Granny & Grandpa’s.

I wanted to take the boys to see the fireworks for the first time, and fortunately, we live only a few blocks from the levee. The fireworks are shot over the river, so it’s pretty nice. Our friends with the quads who share the boys’ birthday came and watched with us, and it was really fun to see the kids interact. I think this was one of the first times it was just the girls and the boys together. Too bad it was so dark, I couldn’t get any great pictures.

I think the boys were pretty impressed by the fireworks, but it was way past their bedtime by the time they ended, so they were exhausted. Next year will be even better!
