I have more pictures to post from my business trip to Virginia than I could use for my picture of the day, so I’m going to do some catching up here.
Monday…well, just spent most of the day traveling or doing mundane duties, so no good photos there.
Tuesday…the first day of our conference. I had an event that I was in charge of that afternoon, so once that was over, I was able to relax a bit. I had dinner with Kristina and Anne at this really great steakhouse (I literally had the most delicious steak of my entire life, and it wasn’t even expensive at all. Then again, it’s not like I know what a really expensive steak tastes like.)
After dinner, we rushed back to the hotel to watch my friend Matt win Chopped! So exciting!

I had to get up pretty early the next morning for a meeting and a keynote speech by a Supreme Court justice, but at least I had our cruise on the Potomac to look forward to.
Thursday was another long day, capped off by a banquet at which I was recognized for service to the organization. Even better, as I already mentioned, I won an iPad 3 in a drawing! So awesome. And the entertainment for the banquet was hilarious, so it all made for a great evening.
We stayed up pretty late Thursday night in the hospitality suite, watching gymnastics and doing our part to rid the world of wine, so Friday came way too soon. But the day was over early, and I got to spend several hours with Jenny, Emily, and Andrew. We went and got Pinkberry…
and then went swimming. Emily and I played in the big pool while Jenny and Andrew hung out in the giant toilet. I mean, kiddy pool.

Later, Jenny and Emily brought me back to the airport where I got to sit on a hot plane for an hour before we took off. I finally got home late and exhausted.
Today I was able to sleep in before I drove to Baton Rouge to pick up the boys, where’d they’d spent the last few days with my mom and Larry. (George did a great job with them from Monday – Thursday. Lots of Daddy bonding time. My mom said Miles was crying for daddy when they were on their way to her house, which is rather sweet.)
I was so, so, so happy to see my sweet boys! I brought them back some stuffed puppies from the airport, which they love and are each calling “Super Puppy”. Sweet.
I took their monthly picture at my mom’s house, and I was having a lot of trouble getting a cute picture of them, until I told them to jump off the step.
And one more picture, on the ride home. Hat courtesy of camp. Gaah!

ARL Mom
Ray’s the Steaks is awesome. If I had known you were coming to Arlington I could have recommended, but you seemed to do just fine on your own. Ray’s and Pinkberry are two of our favorites!
