Still here, still waiting
I haven’t been able to post much because my camera cord is at home, so I can’t upload many pictures, blah blah blah. But we’re still here at my mom’s. I’m so very very grateful we are able to be here, but I think I speak for her and Larry when I say, we need our power back at home, stat. The boys are getting restless. I’m sure my mom wants her house back (my brother and niece were staying here for a week before we got here, so she and Larry haven’t been alone in their house for a long, long time.) and I just wanna go home. To my stinky house. Rain, humidity, and no power for this long takes its toll. Poor George has been there the whole time, pretty much. I think he stayed with friends for a night or two, just to get a decent night’s sleep.
School starts back up on Tuesday. Not sure what we’re going to do if the power isn’t back by then. I have to go back to work. The boys have to go to school. Ugh. Cross your fingers for us.
I shall leave you with some pictures from the other day. (from my iPad)

Hunkerin’ down
Things aren’t bad here…George lost power at home at around 7 last night, making me so glad I made the decision to come to my mom’s. The fact that he said a giant cockroach decided to ride out the storm inside reinforced my feeling. And the water that’s getting into the house, and the tree that came down in the yard…yeah. Glad we’re here.
The boys are playing games on the Wii while they still can. I know we’re going to lose power at some point, I just hope it’s later. Much later. It keeps flickering, which makes me nervous. I just hope it holds out until I can get some more movies downloaded onto my iPad. At least my mom and Larry have a generator. It’s for the fridge and fans and stuff, but better than nothing! It’s also nice that technology is so much better than it was during Katrina or even Gustav in ’08. The iPads may save our sanity. We’ll see.

Isaac was slated to hit the evening of the 28th, so we spent the day visiting friends who live near my mom. Remember little August? He and the boys share a birthday, and he is just the sweetest baby ever.
(Also, today was my sister’s fortieth birthday. My OLDER sister.)
Just so you know
I have evacuated to my mom’s house with the boys. I’m not really worried about anything bad happening (though as I was typing that sentence, Larry just informed me the forecast now has the storm making landfall as a Cat 2 instead of 1) but frankly, I’d rather be at my mom’s house than my own if we lose power. She has a generator, at least.
So we’ll see. Hopefully it will end up being a great big nothing, as has happened so many times before. George decided to stay behind, but he’s fully stocked with Chef Boyardee, so he’ll be fine.
Oh, and the funniest page for updates on the storm is Dramatic Hurricane Isaac Updates. Hilarious.
