Pam is v bad about posting! Bad Pam!

So, let’s see…

Saturday we took the boys for a walk around the neighborhood. They had a great time. People were coming out of their houses to stare at the spectacle…

I dressed the boys in their new blue jeans just for the occasion. I didn’t get a picture of those outfits, so I put Linus back in his jeans yesterday so I could get a shot. Yes, he’s wearing a Christmas onesie. So what?

Aunt Jenny is coming tomorrow night! I can’t wait to sleep again. Heh. No, Aunt Jenny, you will not be allowed to sleep. As if! You knew what you were signing up for. Heh heh. Okay, maybe you can sleep during the day. Maybe.

Today was my last appointment with my MFM. I am not ashamed to say that I got a bit choked up at the end of it. He is just such a wonderful doctor, he is my hero. After the jerks I had to deal with at the beginning of my pregnancy, he was just so kind. He really listened to me, and well, let’s face it. He got my boys safely to me, and for that he will always have a place in my heart. Sniff, sniff…

I suppose that’s it for now. Babies should be waking up momentarily to eat again…

PS Who is my favorite cousin? This is not a quiz. You know who you are, but I don’t! (I mean, with 15+ first cousins, it’s not an unfair question.)

Update on the boys

I’m a bit behind on this post, but oh well.

My mom and I took the boys to the pediatrician on Thursday. No real reason, just a little check up.

I’m glad we took them, otherwise we wouldn’t know what little piglets we have here!

At five weeks, two days old, the boys weights are:

Linus: 8 lbs, 3 oz
Oliver: 8 lbs, 10 oz
Miles: 7 lbs, 15.5 oz (oh so close!!!)

They’re officially “on the charts” now, not even for their adjusted age! So if they were normal, full-term babies at 5 weeks old, they’d be in the 5-25th percentile for their weights, heights, and head circumferences. (You can guess who the 25th percentile dude is.) So proud of my little chunky men.

Other good news is that Linus does not have a milk allergy as we were slightly worried about. Whew!

Hmmm. I had a great birthday, did I already mention that? We saw Walk Hard, which was funny, but I don’t know – I’d save it for when it comes out on DVD. The sushi was delicious (come to mama, raw fish!) and words cannot describe the joy I experienced while sipping my frozen daiquiri. Hee hee! Is that worrisome? Heh.

I also got some awesome birthday gifts. George gave me a beautiful ring that I sort of hinted heavily about (okay, I sent him the link) that symbolizes the boys:

My new ring

Note how the middle stone (all blue topaz, that’s their birthstone) is slightly bigger? Just like our middle boy, Oliver! Heh.

And Kristina sent me a gift box of yummy goodies – including some pregnancy-forbidden blue cheese. Mmmm… And my brother and SIL sent a gift box called the “Midnight Feeding Box” full of bread and cheese and salami and coffee cake and honey and peanut butter and chocolate. Holy yummy!

I didn’t mean to forget the gift my in-laws gave me, too. This beautiful pendant that looks a lot like this but with three babies, not one! How perfect, eh?

This week will be exciting – Aunt Jenny’s coming to visit the boys! And take over the night time feedings so I can sleep! Okay, maybe she doesn’t know that yet. I hope she bought a non-refundable ticket. Heh.

And, pics, because it’d be mean of me to post without pics, right? I call this one “Daddy licks a baby”.

Okay, that’s all I got for now…

HB to me!

HB to me!

Going to get my hair colored (bye bye gray!) and then later, we’re going to the pediatrician and then tonight, I’m going to see a movie! And maybe eat sushi! Oooh, and the movie theater serves daiquiris…mmmm….

Since no one really cares what I’m up to, I’ll just post a few pics of the real stars of the show…

One month old!

One Month!

The boys are one month old today. Can you believe it? Not me! Well, sometimes I can’t believe it’s already been a month. And sometimes it feels like much, much longer.

I’m going to try to take pictures of them every month on their month-birthday, so here’s the first one: (not easy when they can’t sit up!)

1/1/08

Sorry for not posting much lately. Having three babies is somewhat time consuming. Heh.

Can you believe they’re four weeks old today? My god. Sometimes it feels like it’s gone by in a flash, but then I think all that’s happened in four weeks, and it seems like much longer.

We took the boys to their second pedi appointment on Friday (in our NEW MINIVAN) and they’re growing like weeds! Remember, their birthweights were 4 lbs 10 oz, 4 lbs 10 oz, and 4 lbs 3 oz. Now, they’re:

Linus: 19.75″ long, 6’10.5
Oliver: 20″ long, 6’14.5 (almost 7 pounds! wow!)
Miles: 19.25″ long, 6’5.5

Two pounds more than when they were born! And an inch or two longer. 🙂

And yes, we got our minivan. It’s awesome. We ended up with a used 2004 Toyota Sienna, but it has low mileage and is fully loaded. Fancy! I love it, and I am determined to make minivans cool. Why the bad reputation? Sheesh. I’d rather a minivan than a huge SUV any day of the week. Yuck.

My mom’s been in town for the past few days but she’s leaving today. Boooo! But she’ll be back next week so I can go get my hair dyed for my birthday. It’s been far too long, and the gray hair is becoming far too prolific.

Speaking of prolific, the boys are quite prolific at pooping. Yep. They take after their daddy. Tee hee!

Now, pictures!

December 27, 2007

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! The boys did, that’s for sure. They made out like bandits.

Oliver, Miles, and Linus (out of order! eep!)

(Doesn’t it look like Miles and Linus are scheming? Just like in the womb!)

The boys loved their cards from cousin Ellie!

Grandee was here since Friday, and it was so awesome. The boys love their Grandee and she let George and I sleep! And one night we even went out with friends for a little while! It was all terribly exciting. Grandee is back in Baton Rouge now but will be back this weekend. Good thing, the boys miss her!

Tomorrow is pediatrician appointment number 2. It will be interesting to see how much they’ve grown in the past 9 days!

December 21, 2007

Just want to post a quick thanks to everyone for all of the gifts we’ve received for the boys. It’s like Christmas here! Heh. But seriously, it’s so overwhelming, and I can’t say when I’ll have the time or energy for the thank you cards that we owe to so many of you. Please believe we are extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity.

Now for the fun part of the post…

In light of the fact that we now have all three babies home, I think it’s time to go over the new rules of the house. This is going to sound harsh to some of you, but we have only one thing in mind with these rules: the health of the boys. Please don’t take personal offense at any of these rules, they have NOTHING to do with anyone personally, they are meant to keep the boys out of the hospital. They’re preemies, and the usual rules about babies don’t apply to them. If you don’t believe me, watch this video. About 6 minutes in, you’ll see why they’re so important.

1. If you’ve been sick within the past ten days, you cannot visit.
2. If you’ve been around children who have been sick in the past ten days, you cannot visit.
3. You must wash your hands and use hand sanitizer before being around the babies.
4. Children are not allowed to handle the babies.
5. You must have your flu shot before you can touch the babies.

Sound harsh? It’s not meant to be, we’re just trying to save our babies from going back into the hospital. It’s only until the end of RSV season, which is the end of March here. So it’s not forever, and let’s face it, they won’t really be too fun until then anyway, right? In the immortal words of Angelina Jolie, they’re really just “blobs” right now. 🙂 (Really cute blobs, I’ll admit…)

Anyway, I’ll try to post pics and videos as much as I can in the meantime…

Home at last!

Geez, you’d think I wasn’t busy with three newborns or something. But as requested…more pictures!

Remember, you can always see them at my flickr photostream, too…

home at last!

santa pictures taken by NICU nurses… (i had to take pictures of the pictures, sorry)
(order is, as always, linus, oliver, miles)

sweet!

Oliver’s home!

Well, Oliver’s home and well, sleeping like a baby. Heh. That is to say, sleeping well. Last night went well, rooming in at the hospital. Turns out we only had Oliver last night, not all three. Oh well. It’s okay. Soon enough we’ll have all three – like by Tuesday! Miles is coming home on Monday and Linus on Tuesday. Yay!

Getting the hospital pictures taken was an adventure. The photographer was determined to get all three in one shot. Not so easy. We have friends who want to take pictures of all three, which will be really fun – at home. Not at the hospital. And with decent cameras. So I can’t wait for that.

I must say the NICU nurses are awesome. And I love them especially for putting the boys on a schedule. It’s so easy – just change and feed every three hours! Okay, easy with one. Possibly more challenging with three. Heh. But seriously, these boys eat like champs. Earlier, I had Oliver changed and fed within seven minutes. No wonder he’s gained 10 oz since birth!

Triplet update

Well, things are moving along…tomorrow night we’re spending the night at the hospital in a room with all three boys. Yikes! And then on Saturday, we’ll be able to bring Oliver home. Yay! Linus and Miles have been having a few issues (nothing major, completely normal for their age – Oliver is just being an overachiever) so they’ll stay a few more days.

It’ll be interesting to experience life with one baby, just for a few days. But I can’t wait to have all of them at home with us.

They got weighed again, they’re gaining lots!

Linus – 4 lbs, 14 oz
Oliver – 5 lbs, 2 oz – woah!
Miles – 4 lbs, 7 oz

Yay for the boys getting bigger!

Triplets

Okay, another post! This time I have more to say, and pictures to post.

We’ve had some great improvements since my last post. All three have been in one crib since Sunday, and last night they were moved to the step-down unit. That’s the last stop on the way home! At this point, even the nurses aren’t sure why they’re not at home, but I guess they just want to keep an eye on them a bit longer.

They’re taking all of their feedings by bottle. Linus and Oliver are eating 40 ccs per feeding (don’t ask how much that is, I think an ounce is 30 ccs) and little Miles is eating 35. Today we tried out breastfeeding, and it went pretty well, considering that gestationally, they’re really not old enough to know how. So we’ll just keep practicing until they get it.

We have a tentative take-home date of this weekend, but who knows? George is hoping for later rather than sooner, as our stairs still aren’t done yet – and they really HAVE to be done by the time the boys come home. So let’s hope it will all work out. George took today off to paint and varnish, and he is just exhausted now. Poor guy. But he did get to hold and feed Linus and Oliver last night. Still hasn’t changed a diaper, though. Soon. Sooooon!

Pictures!

Miles smiles! (or, has gas)

Oh yeah. George said he found some blog where people were debating our baby names! And someone else said they heard a radio show with them being discussed! As you can imagine, Linus got the worst of it. Hmmph. Ah well, such is the price of fame. 😛
