Random things I’ve purchased on Amazon

I got this breakfast sandwich maker recently (in an effort to get more protein into my breakfasts) but dang, I burned the heck out of my thumb on it this morning. And just two days after I burned my finger on my mom’s oven. I guess I’m kind a professional chef now, don’t they burn themselves all the time? Nah, I guess they wouldn’t be holding a ziplock bag of ice on their finger and whimpering.

On a more nasal topic, I have been wearing Breathe-Right strips to sleep for at least a decade now because of my sinuses. (If I don’t wear one, I wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I’m suffocating.) However, with old age has come thinner skin, I suppose, and I recently started reacting to the adhesive. (Naturally after I bought a jumbo box at Costco.) I decided to try something different, and last night I wore one of these to sleep, and it only felt mildly extremely weird, and I was able to sleep, and I didn’t have adhesive stuck to my nose all day! Win! Except now I know for sure one side of my nose is roomier than the other because one tube when in easily and the other could only be jammed in about 3/4 of the way.

I didn’t actually order this, but my sister got it for me after she saw on a Facebook comment that I wanted one. (Good sissy!) Unfortunately, it arrived broken, but it’ll be replaced shortly and all of my hard butter woes will be over!

I actually ordered this way back in mid-August, but it was released yesterday and Linus is already a few dozen pages in. It just makes me happy that he wanted a book, even if it is mostly drawings. I also love that he said he didn’t want to read it too much because he didn’t want it to be over too fast.

On a non-Amazon note, I’ve also fallen into the LuLaRoe trap and now own a pair of (black) leggings, a dress, and a skirt. I’ve been burned a few times with weird sizing on a couple of other things (I mean, depending on the item, I’m a L, XL, 2XL, or 3XL), so I’m very cautious to try new stuff. Plus it’s hard to order. You basically have to join a bunch of groups on FB and hope they have the item you want in a pattern you don’t find offensive. But when you find something you like, it’s worth it. For our trip to the UK, I want to bring a bunch of knit stuff that won’t wrinkle and that I can layer.

Okay, back to work so I can pay for all this stuff.

Weekend recap

Fun weekend. Tiring.

Friday night, the boys spent the night at George’s parents’ house, while we went to the pub to see our friends’ band. George joked that I had to stay out til 3 am. I responded with an eye roll and “there’s no way in HELL I can stay up that late.” Well, the joke was on me, because we left the pub shortly after, yes, 3 a.m. Woo! Haven’t done that in a while! It was v fun. And all the better because I was able to sleep until noon on Saturday. Heh.

Went to the gym after that, and then we went to pick up the boys. Awww, I missed them after just 24 hours! They’re at such a fun age, I hate to miss any of it. Well, except the cranky parts. I don’t mind missing that too much. Hmm.

Saturday evening, we went and had sloppy joes with friends, and then brought the boys home. It was nice because it felt like Sunday, but we still had another weekend day left!

My mom came in yesterday, and we took the boys to the mall. Just like males everywhere, the mall made them pretty cranky. But also like men everywhere, we dragged them from store to store and shopped anyway. You think they’d be happy, they got most of the loot! Grandee bought them some clothes, some toys, and some foam mats to go in their new playroom. I got some new mugs (one of which I broke shortly after getting it home, arrrgh) and some hand soap. Hand soap may not sound exciting, but it’s the foaming stuff from Bath & Body Works which I love.

my mug. well, not MY mug. but one just like it. the unbroken one, anyway.

Okay, so here are some cute pictures of the boys…

Linus, upon waking:

Miles is MAD. Very MAD.

The whole family. It’s hard to hold wiggling babies. Nice diaper, Miles.

And here’s a lil’ video, click here.

Four more days!

…until Random Kocke Triplet (RKT) and I venture forth on our journey to the suburbs of the nation’s capital. I have almost been swayed to choose an RKT, thus rendering RKT not random at all, but I don’t know if I can do that. Not that they care, because whoever doesn’t go with me is going to have a grand old time with Grandma and Grandpa (who apparently bought out the toy section of Babies R Us). In fact, they’re probably hoping they DON’T get picked, in which case I’m being unfair to RKT for making him come with me.

That was confusing, wasn’t it? Anyway. We’ll see. Really it’s more about how terribly I’ll miss the other two who don’t come with me. How can I leave behind my sweet Miles, with his huge grins, or my Oliver bear, with his quizzical faces and heart-melting thumb sucking, or my Linus bear, with his chuckles and giggles and chin zit? Sigh. I think I need to get over it. It’s only for a few days, and I’ll be having so much fun that the time will go by quickly. Too quickly.

Goodness knows how I’m going to deal with my Canada trip, away from ALL THREE for three days!

Some pictures from the weekend…

The last two pictures remind me – there are some amazing sales going on right now. Holy cow, I bought a ton of stuff at Old Navy for next summer. DIRT CHEAP. We’re talking $1.50 for shirts, $3 for pants, and I got that hoodie that Oliver is wearing for $2.50. For RKT to wear on the plane. It gets chilly on airplanes! The cowboy hat Linus is sporting didn’t get purchased, as it was some ridiculous price (not on sale) at Gymboree. But it’s pretty much the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

10/11/07

Must write quick entry, as am being bad blogger.

Last night George and I went to Outback for dinner. Goooood protein! It’s been too long since I’ve had a steak (I think since the time in JUNE when we had George’s parents over to eat, and we told them I was pregnant.) Well, now that I think about it, I think we had it one other time at a friend’s house. Yes, we did. But twice in five months? Babies need more meat! Heh. Anyway, that was yum and a nice splurge.

Then we went and got a new electric kettle since my last one (which has served me well for the last eight years, RIP) started making ominous sparking noises yesterday morning. Gotta admit, the new one is nice. Then we went to B&N where I bought a wedding magazine because I’m designing a wedding album for one of the couples that was featured in it! I’m practically famous, people.

Isn’t our life fascinating? What I did realize last night after even the short amount of time I spent on my feet, is that I’m slowing down. It sucks, but I guess I’m lucky I’ve gone this long feeling pretty good. Even last Friday, at the doctor, when I asked him about bedrest, he said probably I’d go on it in the next month or two, depending on how I’m feeling. Well, at the time, I thought I could last til Thanksgiving, at least. But now, not so sure. I think I need to talk to my boss about working from home now. Thank goodness he’s open to that.

So…exciting plans for the weekend? Need to make some returns to BRU of duplicate gifts and exchange some onesies for bigger ones, stuff like that. And then I’m going to my friend’s son’s first birthday party. Par-tay! Woooooooooo! Tee’s coming over tonight (I think) to help organize the nursery. Maybe I’ll take some pictures.

Speaking of pictures, here are a bunch from the shower!

9/17/07

I know I haven’t posted much lately, I just have been up to not much worth posting. Let’s see…

Went to Baton Rouge this weekend. I was all about the partying this weekend. Some serious, hardcore partying. First it was Alison’s birthday party. That crazy chick! She turned three. We had pizza and cake at her party. Wooooooo!!!

Then yesterday, Ava turned two. More cake! And cucumber sandwiches! Some serious stuff, man. Serious.

And in between, there was some shopping, including some purchases for tiny babies. Gaah! Little gowns with the elastic at the bottom, and the little cuffs for tiny baby hands. And a book for Grandee to read to them.

I also managed to get a few things for dirt cheap at a Mothers of Twins tag sale on Saturday. I really should stop buying stuff, though, since my showers are coming up soon. One thing that was killing me was that we were at TJ Maxx and they had a Boppy pillow that I registered for. At Babies R Us, that puppy is $25 plus another $8-12 for a cover. They had them for $20 (with cover) at TJ Maxx. That kind of thing makes me crazy, that someone could buy it at full price when it’s so much cheaper elsewhere.

Anyhoo, I shall just be grateful for what I do get and not worry if people got a bargain or not. I’ll shut up now.

Today is my appointment with the new Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist. I have high hopes. I’ve been hearing great things about him, so keep your fingers crossed that he doesn’t
a) insult my intelligence
b) fall asleep during my ultrasound
c) be a jerkface to me

Will post later on how the appointment goes.

8/21/07

Ack, it’s been a while since I posted! I’ve just been v busy. Nursery painting not quite done yet, but with a couple of more days of work this week it should be done. Yay! I feel bad, just being the “supervisor”, but what can ya do?

Went to Baton Rouge to visit my mom. Got some maternity clothes, and some shoes to fit my fat feet. Well, they fit sometimes. Yesterday at work…not so much. But they’re a good backup for days when my feet aren’t so swollen. And maybe they’ll stretch.

We saw Becoming Jane, which I enjoyed. I do love going to the movies. We also met up with my Aunt Caroline and got the rest of the fabric for the quilts. They are going to be so cute!

Tomorrow is an OB appointment. Only two weeks since my last one. I’m pretty sure it’s really supposed to be next Wednesday, but on my chart, my doctor’s “3” (as in “see patient again in 3 weeks”) looked like a “2”. Silly me didn’t even bother to correct the scheduler. But maybe it was a 2? Who knows. In any case, the paranoid feelings have been creeping over me again, and I’ll be happy to hear the heartbeats to set my mind at ease.

And then a week from Friday is another ultrasound with the specialist. Hoping (desperately) to see the membranes. Sigh.
