The boys somehow realize football season is upon us again. Whenever Miles sees a fleur-de-lis, he says “Go Saints!” Heh.

Weekend recap

I am not very good at coming up with post titles. Duh, stating the obvious!

We had a really fun weekend, though, and I do want to write about it. Sadly, my trial of Lightroom expired, so my photos aren’t going to have the same “oomph” as they’ve had over the past few weeks. So sad. Very very sad.

Friday: Hung out at the pub for a while.

Saturday: Went to the zoo for a bit. Thank god for our membership. We can go, ride the carousel a few times, and then leave. We did go look at the gorilla, which was freaky. It was just sitting there, staring back at all the people looking at it. Weird. Anyway. The boys just wanted to say Goodnight to it.

I swear, Linus really wasn’t terrified on the carousel, but I had to post this because it makes me giggle.

After a quick trip to Pinkberry (picked up some yogurt to go, MAN that stuff is good!) we went home and put the boys down for a nap. The rest of the day was pretty quiet and uneventful.

Sunday: I took the boys to my friend Mandy’s house to play. She has a little girl who is a little older than the boys. Her name is Annabel, but Oliver kept referring to her as Tinkerbell. This kills me. We had fun at their house painting and playing with their toys.

Painting fun! (Mandy is very very very fearless.)

Harry joined in on the fun too. Hee hee!

After our playdate, it was time for a nap, so the rest of the day was pretty quiet.

And now it is Monday and here’s something exciting…I saw on Craigslist that they were looking for twins/triplets/brothers for a film being made here. So I sent off a picture of the boys and got a reply from the casting agency within a few hours. They have an audition (for what, I do not know) on Saturday. Eeep! It’s of course just for fun. (And fame and fortune.)

I call this one “Up to No Good”.

(I shouldn’t have to tell you that this is Miles. The king of mischievous looks.)

08/22/10

Today we went to my friend Mandy’s house to play with her daughter Annabel (or, Tinkerbell, according to Oliver) and her little guy, Harry. All the kids had lots of fun painting and making a mess. Washable paint is your friend!

Things that make me happy

I am feeling a little blue today (due to some rather pricey dental work I was not expecting) so I thought I’d post a few things that cheer me up.

This Etsy shop. I covet pretty much each and every pair of earrings in it, but especially these:

I should buy them for myself one day. That would make me even happier.

Planning the boys’ third birthday party. I think I’ve settled on a theme (trains) and now for the fun part…designing and planning and wanting this cake pan (and Kristina to come to bake and decorate the cake!)

Taking pictures of the boys. Even though it’s hard to think of new ways to capture the same old-same old every day for my 365 project, I think my photography skills have improved (certainly I’ve learned a ton since January first) since then.

George showing Linus some cicada shells he found when we went on a walk this afternoon.

(Am I going overboard with the black and white? Not to worry, my Lightroom trial expires in a few days, so no more artsy-fartsy stuff out of me for a while.)

Miles and Linus in the bath, thus completing my trifecta of bath photos. I’m really going to try to stop now. Here are the other two.

Conversation at Walgreen’s (+ other randoms)

(As I wrangled the boys to the pharmacy area to pick up prescriptions.)

Lady: Ooh, triple trouble!
Me: Nah, they’re good. Triple the expense, though. (As they wave around $4 boxes of bandaids.)
Lady: Yeah, I had two close in age, so I know what it’s like.

Insert eyeroll.

The End!

***************************************************************

Here’s a cute video of the boys from Sunday. You can’t see much, it was dark, but this is just so you can see how much they talk. (All the freaking time.)

Took the boys to the doctor today. They read some magazines. (Highlights included. Love that it’s still around!)

Linus admired himself in the funny mirror there, too.

After we left the doctor, we had to pick up a prescription from Walgreen’s (see how this post is all coming full circle?) and the boys saw the “M” that’s on the M&M shirts they have. I’m a sucker and bought them some M&Ms too. (Better that than three boxes of the four dollar bandaids.)

Where were we?

So I think I just got to mid-day on Saturday. Yeesh!

After the zoo, Alex ensured her place in heaven by coming with us to Target so I could pick up a prescription for the boys that I had to get that day. We put two boys in my cart and one in hers, and it was a breeze, I tell ya. Except for the part where I let them hold $10 DVDs without considering that they were going to freak the heck out when I took them away from them. (Sometimes I lack foresight. Sometimes.) So I let them pick out Matchbox cars, which only cost 87 cents. But no, they wanted the five dollar Lightning McQueen cars. Damn those Target merchandisers! I managed to just get the cheapo cars, though, and they were marginally content with that. Whew.

We brought Alex home, and I managed to keep the boys awake until we got home, at which point we put them down for a nap. But did they sleep? No, no they did not. Well, at some point Oliver fell asleep, but after two hours in their room, Miles and Linus were still awake and chatting. Argh.

After naptime, I brought them to the park to play with their friend Millie. This was fun, but I realized that the world is make for twins. Sigh. I’ve yet to see a park with three swings, so we had a few arguments over who was going to swing next. Yeesh. But overall, it was fine, and the boys went to bed without much of a peep.

Our plans for Sunday included going swimming with my friend Terry and her girls. That was fun. We went to a pool with a pretty big kiddie area, and after trying to coax them in for 45 minutes, the boys finally got in the water. And then had a grand old time, but we had to leave twenty minutes later. (Insert eye roll.)

Here’s Miles with “the carrot” (an orange noodle)

And Oliver with “the rainbow” (yellow noodle)

After lunch, we took the kids to McDonald’s and let them loose on the play area, and got them good and worn out for naptime. This time, they really did sleep. Nice!

My friend Tee came over after naptime to play with the boys, and fun was had by all. In fact, when the boys woke up this morning, the first thing Linus said to me was “where’s Aunt Tee?” Awwww!
