Looooong weekend

It really wasn’t longer than any other weekend, but I packed so much into it, that it felt really long.

It started on Friday, when I brought the boys to Granny and Grandpa’s, then went to the Aveda Institute for a $15 haircut. Love that. Yeah, it took two hours, but they did a great job (it helps that they HAVE to listen to what you want, unlike at some salons when they just do whatever the hell they want to you. Not that I’m bitter.) When I left, it was getting dark, the air was crisp and cool, and a feeling over overwhelming contentment came over me. I walked to the Whole Foods next to the salon, loaded up on their $3 bottles of wine and some yummy dinner, and reflected on the fact that I had TWO WHOLE NIGHTS without the kids.

Heaven.

So I went home, relaxed with a glass from the aforementioned cheap wine and my yummy dinner.

No more than a glass, though, because I had to be up bright and early Saturday morning for the breast cancer awareness walk I did. It was a 5K walk, not a race. More like a stroll. I did it with a friend and a bunch of her coworkers. It was a beautiful day, and I was glad to do something.

Afterwards, Teresa and I got coffee and shopped for some birthday presents, because we had a 7 year old’s birthday party to attend. Yeah, that’s right. I went to a child’s birthday party without my kids. And I had a much better time for it!

I reminisced about the old days when I worked in the children’s department at Barnes & Noble:

I got to snuggle all sorts of babies, it was awesome.

In spite of Frankie being a mere 6 weeks old, my friend still managed to make all these awesome cakepops (and the coffin cake.)

After I got home from the party, I got some stuff done around the house. Little things (like hanging coat hooks) that I’ve been putting off for months, if not years. So that felt good.

I quickly baked a cake (ha ha, it was only a mix) to bring to the pub since there was a Zombie potluck party. Yes, zombies bring potluck. There were some interesting characters there…

And then I convinced Lindsay that we weren’t really jumping THAT high in this picture, by having her do her own jumping picture. Love it! Look at those shoes!

I went to pick up the boys on Sunday (after I did a little early birthday/Christmas shopping for them – Toys R Us had a sale on Thomas train cars) to go to my friend Mandy’s daughter’s fourth birthday party. They were super-clingy at the party, right up until it was time to go. Naturally.

Look at this cutie! She was soooo smiley. Love!

How do they GET this dirty? Ahhh. Anyway, I figured out how to make them look different.

And then we went grocery shopping and home blah blah blah. I was beat. Ready for Monday. Woo hoo!
