Yes, yes, yes. I changed my blog template. But it’s so preeetttyyy! Now I’m trying to get the comments all fixed up. I know, also, I should be ashamed, as a web designer (though not a very accomplished one) to use a Blogger template that millions of other bloggers also use. So sue me. I’ll change it later. Maybe.

Okay, so I gained .2 this week. I want to say I’m not really concerned. I should be, probably, but I’m not. I know why I gained .2 and didn’t lose this week.

It started with two Krispy Kremes on Saturday morning and swiftly went downhill from there. Granted, the doughnuts were after a brutally hot 5K race that I ran nearly all of. (Can’t end sentence in preposition. Must figure that one out.) But ten points for two delicious rounds of fried, sweet love don’t offset the mere five activity points I earned for the race. So then it was the waffle cone of ice cream at Six Flags. And then later the half of a large pizza at dinner. I wasn’t that hungry. It’s just that it was sitting in front of me and it was so good. (Did I mention the five beers? At least they were light beers. Don’t laugh.)

Anyway, that was just Saturday. Sunday was Mexican food, Monday was leftovers. And so on and so forth.

But today is a fresh start. This week may be difficult, with dinners out and Halloween on Sunday. But I’m going bowling on Friday night. How many activity points is that? Ha ha.

Will be good this week. I swear.

I have yet more wedding pictures to post, but I’m being lazy. As if anyone (including, possibly, my sister) wants to see yet more pictures of the nuptials of Jenny and Rob. But post I will.

Had a fun weekend. Fun! Saturday morning Polly and I ran in a 5K. It was a teeny tiny 5K, maybe 30 people total. We didn’t even get numbers, it was so teeny. But the upside to teeny races is you get a better chance of finishing with a good-sounding place. (Or you could easily finish last.) Fortunately, I didn’t finish last, but I was the 5th female! That is terribly exciting to someone who is usually the 286th female. Okay, so this time there were maybe 10 or 15 females, but still! It was exciting! I didn’t get a medal or anything because they only gave out one award in each age group and a 27 year old girl (who, Polly and I couldn’t help but notice was wearing a THONG under her MESH RUNNING SHORTS) finished ahead of me. Ah well. I even beat Polly! Miracles do happen. She probably let me, but I don’t care!

So the race ends (and I finish in a miserable time of 37:12 – hey, we’re still having a heat wave, in fact the warmest October on record) and then they have door prizes. And this race had lots of door prizes, and since there were only about 30 participants, Polly and I each got prizes! Yay! I won a $20 gift certificate to an Italian restaurant and Polly won two sets of Halloween potholders and dishtowels. She very generously gave me one set of them. Tee hee. Okay, I came out ahead twice in this race. Sorry, Polly.

Anyway, so later, George and I and Polly and Colin went to Six Flags to use the free tickets Polly and I got at a race we did back in April. It was fun. I ate a massive waffle cone of ice cream. I didn’t ride too many rides because I am a wuss but I didn’t care. The log ride really was fun! And we got really wet! And then we rode another ride and got nauseous! And I didn’t realize George really doesn’t like rides that go upside down, until we were strapped into a ride, whirling around and I wondered aloud when we were going to go upside down. Well, the panic in his voice made me laugh, I’m sorry. So I’m an insensitive girlfriend, but it really was funny. Anyway, we only flipped around once or twice.

Saturday night was pub time and I ate HALF of a pizza. God, I love pizza. Pizza is why I will never get to my goal weight. Sigh. It’s worth it, though. Pizza or being thin? Pizza. I would rather have pizza and be fat. (I know, I know, it doesn’t have to be one or the other.)

Sunday was relaxing. Was going to work in the yard, but it is TOO DAMN HOT and I was worn out from Saturday. Then we went and ate Mexican food (hello, lots more points!) and watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. What a great movie. That reminds me, I have to return it tonight. Damn. I hate Blockbuster.

Wish I had really interesting things to say, but I really don’t. I went to Curves on Wednesday for my monthly weigh and measure and I gained weight and inches. Not that I really care – it was like half a pound and a quarter of an inch here and there. Considering I had to get weighed and measured two days after my eating orgy ended, not to mention when I’m all PMS-y and bloated, I’m not at all upset about it. (Isn’t “bloated” the most disgusting word?)

See, I told you I had nothing to talk about. Oh wait, I remembered a cool thing. I recently reconnected with an old friend from summer geek camp. (We spent a few weeks living in a dorm on the LSU campus and going to classes. No bonfires or roughing it for us, thank you. Just geek things.) I was browsing through a local alternative newspaper and I came across her name in a gallery listing. Turns out she’s a poet and a writer. And she’s still as funny as she was when we were teenagers. Very exciting. You can check out her stuff at her website.

Yesterday I worked on the yard. I decided to get rid of two bushes in the front yard. They are very scraggly and ugly. Now I just have some ragged bush stumps. Very attractive. Must get out shovel this weekend. If only it would cool down! We have been having record high temps this week. Bleech! Tomorrow morning I have a race and I was really hoping for cool temps. Hmmph.

October 20, 2004

Okay, okay, no need to panic. Yes, I’m up 2.6 this week, but this is not a terrible thing. Had it been the five or six pounds that I was expecting, then I would have been slightly upset, but this is all to be expected, and a mere two-point-six pounds is nothin’. I will lose it all next week! (Famous last words, and all that.)

So I got some new pants at Old Navy yesterday, and they are a size sixteen. That may seem massive to my skinny friends, but I have these hips that will not shrink. Well, actually, they have a bit because sixteens in trousers are a landmark. (Fourteens in skirts are fine, because I can hike them up to my ribcage. Ha ha!) Anyway, these pants will be lovely one day soon but right now they’re a bit snug and the pockets gap out just a tad so I am having to wear a longer shirt than normal which doesn’t make me feel very nice-looking. But they are very long pants, which I love. It reminds me very much of what I read in Mo’s journal the other day. (Fourth paragraph down. I don’t necessarily find sandwiches as frightening as Mo.)

So now today (I start too many sentences with “so”, huh?) I am back to counting points.

By the way, dance class last night went really well, I think. I finally felt like I was getting most things. Now I just need to get some tutoring on stinking time steps or whatever they’re called. Tap is hard!!!

So now that I have had eight hours of sleep in a row, I can go more into detail about the weekend. Of course, I’d say most people who care about details were there, so on second thought, I will just hit the high points:

Friday: lunch, manicure, errands-running (must…find…fancyguestbookpen), and then rehearsal dinner. That was nice because I saw a lot of relatives I haven’t seen in a long time. Like in forty or fifty pounds. Nice.

Saturday: wedding, reception, after-party. Okay, a bit more detail: hair appointment, crisis over Jenny’s lost jewelry (later found thanks to a tip from me, thankyouverymuch), getting dressed in the church library, crisis over forgotten unity candles, crisis over forgotten programs, pictures pictures pictures, wedding! I think I was pretty composed until the vows, and I could see the emotion in Rob’s eyes. (Then I just made “I’m trying not to cry” faces.) Laughter during the ceremony at my sister rocking back and forth during the whole thing, plus her finger-snapping at me to fix the train. Wedding over, on to the reception. Yummy food, dorky DJ, yummy yummy yummy groom’s

cake (holy cow…chocolate with caramel and pecan filling. And choc-covered strawberries. Yum.), silly dancing, bad dancing, playing with my little cousins, more more more pictures. Not catching the bouquet even though she aimed for me (not my fault, was snatched from the air!) After the reception, a party at my uncle’s house, more playing with little cousins, then back to New Orleans, a beer or two at the pub, and home, and not enough sleep.

Sunday: lunch at Chili’s with Kristina, wandering around our neighborhood for the home tour, the church/school fair, and the art fair. Exhaustion. Dinner later at Port of Call with Jenny and Rob and Karen (the coolest cousin ever – she works for the Simpsons. Some might call me obsessed.) and Tom and George and Kristina and Michael (best man) and Stephanie (his girlfriend.) Very full, went home, slept a bit, woke up in the middle of the night to take Kristina to airport. Back home for an hour more of sleep, then to work. And then last night we had dinner again with Jenny and Rob. And I dragged them to Whole Foods so I could get some cherry bars. Yum.

The end!

Pictures! Pictures! Pictures! Link is here…

So earlier in the week, my brother kept telling me that George
and I should hurry up and elope this week, just to upstage my
sister and piss her off. Little did I know that he was going to
upstage everyone all along – or should I say my sister-in-law
was going to…

Yes indeedy, I’m going to be an aunt! Yay! (I mean for real. Not
that I’m complaining about being a faux aunt to Alison and
Isabella and the other children of friends.) I cried like a,
well, baby last night when I found out. My brother ordered me to
check his email “to make sure Mom’s new wireless connection is
working.” Come on, even I’m not that gullible. I knew something
was up. But when I saw the sonogram with “Hi Aunt Pam!” I
totally lost it. In a good way. Yaaay!

On another note, I got a pedicure yesterday after work. Love
pedicures, though I am rightfully a bit leery of them since the
“nearly had my toe sliced off” incident of my last one. But this
one went smoothly (eh, pun intended?) and now my feet look as
nice as they possibly can. Woo!

10/13/04

Woo hoo! Down 1.4! 179.6! Exciting. Except that in 4.6 more pounds, I will be down to 22 points. That is scary.

Dance class was fun last night. I was very reluctant to go, since I missed last week, but it didn’t really matter. And my teacher (who is younger than me, by the way) asked me if I’d taken dance class before. As if I were unbelievably good for a beginner. Ha! I gave her a very disbelieving “um…no” but it was nice of her to try to make me feel better. It’s okay…I don’t have rhythm, I can’t remember steps, etc, etc. But it’s fun. So who cares? Also I am very unflexible. The stretching portion of the class is comical. Must work on that.
