Busiest weekend ever

So it therefore requires a recap.

Friday night, after the boys went to bed, I went to the pub for a little while. Just to get out of the house, since the boys were with me all day. Linus had woken up, complaining of an earache, in the middle of the night, so I decided to bring him to work with me so I could take him to the pediatrician at some point. But the other two boys, rather pathetically, were saying, “but I’m coughing ” so I decided, what the heck, I may as well bring them all. Long story short, I couldn’t get an appointment until almost noon, so they were at work with me for a long time, and then I figured it wasn’t worth bringing them to school a couple of hours before the end of the day. So by nighttime, I was ready for some relaxation.

I got home a bit later than I’d planned, but George was kind enough to let me sleep in on Saturday morning. Hooray!

And so our busy day began…first up, a birthday party for a former classmate at Audubon Park. There was pizza (that they’d only eat the crust of, and only the part with no cheese or sauce) and cupcakes (which we brought with us, and which are now smeared all over the interior of the van) and a pinata (which only an adult could break open.) But it was fun and the boys had a great time running around.

The second party was right after that one, back near our house. It was a mermaid and pirates theme, and the cupcakes were to die for…

After that party, we headed to the boys’ school for their first Marche de Noel, a Christmas craft fair. My mom and Larry met us there, and they bought some French books for the boys. (French books are tricky…I can’t read them, and they can’t yet either. So I just make up stories based on the pictures. Hmm.) The boys also showed off their classroom and their coathooks to Grandee and Larry.

Right before we left, we saw my friend Mary and her tiny new baby, Dash. The boys were smitten, and it looks like the feeling was mutual. 😀

Last event was the our triplet group’s Christmas party, which I mentioned before. I don’t really have many pictures of my own kids from that, since I was taking pictures of other families, but I did get this one of the boys and my friend’s quads. (I’ve mentioned a million times before, they share the same birthday.)

So after that, we finally went home and I crashed.

Sunday was another busy day. A friend had her baby five weeks early, on the boys’ birthday and I have been waiting ever since she announced her pregnancy to take pictures of her newborn. So I wasn’t expecting to go until closer to Christmas, but fortunately, little August was healthy and came home quickly. They live near my mom, so we drove up Sunday morning and I spent some time taking pictures of this sweet baby boy…

After I got back from doing that, we went to my mom’s office, where they were having some Christmas crafts for the kids. The boys had fun decorating cookies and making ornaments, and playing with glitter.

I was casually trying to recreate the look here, but it clearly needs more work (and glitter.) Maybe if we get bored over Christmas break…
