Home at last!

Geez, you’d think I wasn’t busy with three newborns or something. But as requested…more pictures!

Remember, you can always see them at my flickr photostream, too…

Triplets

Okay, another post! This time I have more to say, and pictures to post.

We’ve had some great improvements since my last post. All three have been in one crib since Sunday, and last night they were moved to the step-down unit. That’s the last stop on the way home! At this point, even the nurses aren’t sure why they’re not at home, but I guess they just want to keep an eye on them a bit longer.

They’re taking all of their feedings by bottle. Linus and Oliver are eating 40 ccs per feeding (don’t ask how much that is, I think an ounce is 30 ccs) and little Miles is eating 35. Today we tried out breastfeeding, and it went pretty well, considering that gestationally, they’re really not old enough to know how. So we’ll just keep practicing until they get it.

We have a tentative take-home date of this weekend, but who knows? George is hoping for later rather than sooner, as our stairs still aren’t done yet – and they really HAVE to be done by the time the boys come home. So let’s hope it will all work out. George took today off to paint and varnish, and he is just exhausted now. Poor guy. But he did get to hold and feed Linus and Oliver last night. Still hasn’t changed a diaper, though. Soon. Sooooon!

Pictures!

Miles smiles! (or, has gas)

Oh yeah. George said he found some blog where people were debating our baby names! And someone else said they heard a radio show with them being discussed! As you can imagine, Linus got the worst of it. Hmmph. Ah well, such is the price of fame. 😛

Famous!

Just so you know, from here on out, if you want to talk to me, you’re going to have to have your people call my people.

Hee hee, just kidding. Today was pretty nutty. The highlight being, of course this moment:

Not that we were on national news, but that I got to hold all three boys at once. It was so amazing. Amazing too because they were heavy! I can’t believe they were in my tummy just two days ago!

Sadly, George still hasn’t held them or seen them in person since they were first born. He’s had a cold and I really, really, really hope that he’s better by tomorrow. I want nothing more than that. Do you know how long I’ve been waiting to see him hold our babies?

If you want to see the clip from ABC news, it’s here.

Yesterday was a really bad day for me, pain-wise. Boy, c-sections are awfully painful. Ugh. I’m sure not helped by the fact that I was bed-ridden all day on Tuesday. Anyway, today was MUCH better. Except when some ice went down the wrong way and I had to cough. More pain, and feelings like my insides were going to explode out of my body. Hee. And I have a bad rash but I got some steroid cream today that I hope will help.

And you know what I’m going to do now? See if I can’t find some Christmas stockings for my boys. 🙂

Oh yeah…want to see LOTS of pics? Here!

Edited to add: Thanks Aunt Kristina for the boys’ first Christmas stockings! They are so cute!

Nursery pics

Nursery is almost done! Thank you Kristina for helping so much this past week. I think she’s in the wrong line of work. Professional organizing would be much more her speed.

Books, books, and more books

>I have really good friends. Sometimes it’s hard to take it all in, you know? The kindness of people?

On Wednesday, I got two packages in the mail. One was from a friend of a friend – this is a girl I’ve never even met! But she sent me three adorable little ducky outfits for the triplets. She didn’t need them anymore, so I was the lucky recipient. Too bad they don’t fit me, they look comfy. tee hee! Thanks Beth! 🙂

The other package was from a group of friends I have that live all over the country. The box was big and heavy (don’t worry, I didn’t move it.) I open it up, and what do I see?

The box was completely full of children’s books. Full to the brim. Almost 100 books. These girls had gotten together and sent me their favorite books from their childhood or their own kids’. It was amazing, and there were so many books in there that I loved as a kid (or during my stint as a children’s bookseller at B&N.)

Between these books, another box from another friend that came yesterday, and the books I got from my showers, these babies are going to be very literate and well-read (to).

Yesterday was a fun day. Rode to Baton Rouge with my friends Mary and Andy and their little boy Fletcher. George even came! It was quite a novelty to be the passenger instead of the driver on a trip to BR. We were going to another friend’s twin’s first birthday party. (Fletcher’s was last weekend. Does it seem weird that the last four birthday parties I’ve been to have been for small children? Hmmm.)

Anyway, it was lots of fun. I got my first quilt from Aunt Caroline, I need to take a picture of it, it looks great in the nursery. I can’t wait to have the crib skirts too so I can really see how the nursery looks all put together!

Ever since I was 13 weeks pregnant, I’ve been taking a profile shot of my tummy every Sunday. I haven’t posted them publicly because, I don’t know, I’m shy. 😛 But I suppose I can now. Isn’t it funny that 8 weeks ago I thought I looked pregnant? HA!

Here’s a link because I am NOT going to put the pictures right here. That’d be just mean. (Don’t worry, I’m completely clothed in all of these.)

Tomorrow is another appointment with the MFM. Hopefully they’ll give me some cute pics of the babies that I can post.

Must write quick entry, as am being bad blogger.

Last night George and I went to Outback for dinner. Goooood protein! It’s been too long since I’ve had a steak (I think since the time in JUNE when we had George’s parents over to eat, and we told them I was pregnant.) Well, now that I think about it, I think we had it one other time at a friend’s house. Yes, we did. But twice in five months? Babies need more meat! Heh. Anyway, that was yum and a nice splurge.

Then we went and got a new electric kettle since my last one (which has served me well for the last eight years, RIP) started making ominous sparking noises yesterday morning. Gotta admit, the new one is nice. Then we went to B&N where I bought a wedding magazine because I’m designing a wedding album for one of the couples that was featured in it! I’m practically famous, people.

Isn’t our life fascinating? What I did realize last night after even the short amount of time I spent on my feet, is that I’m slowing down. It sucks, but I guess I’m lucky I’ve gone this long feeling pretty good. Even last Friday, at the doctor, when I asked him about bedrest, he said probably I’d go on it in the next month or two, depending on how I’m feeling. Well, at the time, I thought I could last til Thanksgiving, at least. But now, not so sure. I think I need to talk to my boss about working from home now. Thank goodness he’s open to that.

So…exciting plans for the weekend? Need to make some returns to BRU of duplicate gifts and exchange some onesies for bigger ones, stuff like that. And then I’m going to my friend’s son’s first birthday party. Par-tay! Woooooooooo! Tee’s coming over tonight (I think) to help organize the nursery. Maybe I’ll take some pictures.

Speaking of pictures, here are a bunch from the shower!

Shower pics

Pictures!

That is a link to the flickr set from the shower. Disclaimer: no one told me to put powder on. I am v shiny. And I make weird faces. Oh well. That is me.

Dorks!

Ooops, sorry I haven’t been very good at posting lately. Mostly I’m waiting for something to post! Like shower pictures! I obviously didn’t take any (since I was too busy being photographed) so I have to wait to get them from other people. And I haven’t yet. Sigh. Ah well. Must remember. Am not center of the universe. Hee!

If you want to see how big and round I’m getting, here’s a picture of me and Ren and Anne being all Charlie’s Angels, knocked up-style.

Aren’t we some big ol’ dorks?

That should tide you over, eh?

Tonight I went to dinner with some girlfriends, and that was really nice. There were a lot of babies at the table, some born, some not. I got to hold a little bitty guy, but I can’t imagine three of them at once! Eeep!

Friday morning is my next appointment with my new doctor. Jenny and Emmy and Mom are coming – but they are only allowed in if they promise not to look at any gender parts. Hmmph. I don’t believe a bit that they’re going to behave, but they’d better. Or else. At least I know Emily won’t ruin any surprise for me. I can’t wait to see her!

Sleeping has been going somewhat better. I didn’t mention that I do pop Benadryl or Tylenol PM (if I have a headache at bedtime) pretty often, but I was trying not to do it every night. But if I’m not exhausted at night, I can’t see that I have any other option. Not sleeping sucks too bad.

Don’t tell George, but I sleep better when I have the whoooolllle bed to myself. I can stretch out and wedge pillows under and around me strategically. It’s really better for him, too, not to have to listen to my snoring. It’s times like this I wish we had a king-size bed (and a bedroom big enough for one.)

Babies have been moving a lot lately. Today they must be tired out because they have been somewhat calmer, but the past two days were nutty! It was fun. When I get bored at work, I can just watch my tummy. Better than TV, almost.

Okay…off to get ready for bed now!

9/11/07

Hmmm. I really want to write something interesting, but I’m afraid I just don’t have it in me. But for my legions of adoring fans, I’d better write something.

Weekend was overall pretty low-key. Even though I did go visit Dr G and get an ultrasound. I’m trying not to get too excited about it – but there is a chance we saw another membrane (Dr G has a much clearer u/s machine than the MFM does). The hard part is, was it the membrane we’ve already seen? Or the one we’ve been looking for? Who knows. Monday is my appointment with the new specialist, so hopefully he’ll find it. Hopefully he has a better machine than the old specialist.

Dr G also measured the size of my tummy and it’s measuring 32 weeks for a single baby. Hee hee! And I’m still not convinced I look pregnant at all. Heh. Maybe a little.

We also went to a shrimp boil at a friend’s house, where I took the best. picture. ever.

Heh heh.

Not a whole lot going on this week. I did get to work from home yesterday because the a/c was out at my office building. I lasted a few hours, but we’re on the seventh floor, so it got to be pretty stifling.

In two weeks from Friday, Kristina will be here! And Anne! My New Orleans shower is two weeks from Saturday! Gosh, baby showers already. Such excitement. I’m glad that I’m not feeling ungainly or anything yet. I still get around just fine, and the only times I feel pregnant (besides when I’m the only sober one at a party, ha ha) are when I’m sleeping (rolling over is getting difficult, and damn if I don’t miss sleeping on my tummy) or standing up for a while.

Okay, I was able to squeeze quite a few paragraphs out of nothing exciting! Go me.
