Had a pretty good weekend here. Let’s think…

Friday after work we walked down to the pizza place for dinner. I do love pizza.

Saturday afternoon, my friend Erin and I took the boys to run some errands. I think the reason they get crabby sometimes on weekends is they get bored of being at the house. So we went to Babies R Us and Sam’s, and they were so well behaved and in great moods. Oliver was in a particularly charming mood, later determined because he pooped his pants and was happily sitting in it, getting it all over his carseat. Boys.

That night, Dawn and her husband and daughter came by to visit, bringing…pizza. I do love pizza. Never turn it down.

On Sunday, we mostly hung around the house. I went to the gym while the boys were napping, which was awesome. I ran on the treadmill. People, it’s been over a year since I’ve run at all. Of course, I’m sure it wasn’t a pretty sight for the other gym-goers, but whatever. It felt great. I think I’m going to set a goal to run a whole 5K this fall. And faster than I used to do them.

For dinner last night, we walked down to the pizza place. Heh. But on Sundays they do barbecue. So not pizza again. However, my mom and Larry are coming to visit us this afternoon, and guess what we’re going to do for dinner?

Speaking of last night, I let Auntie Steph do something she’s been dying to do, and I promised her she could do first…give the boys a tiny taste of ice cream. Predictably, they loved it, even though it was only vanilla, and not Peanut Butter & Chocolate from Baskin-Robbins.

I think Oliver loved it best, but they all seemed to enjoy it. (Note, they only ate the ice cream part, not the chocolate)

I do love pizza. But having friends open a pizza place four blocks from my house might not be the greatest weight loss tool ever.

This week is going to be awesome, and go by so fast.

– Mom’s coming tonigh

– Dinner with A & S (quads and triplets moms – you know, the ones from the news) tomorrow night with margaritas, mmmmm!

– Triplet moms group on Wednesday

– Chris is coming in town this week, and Thursday he’s coming to meet the boys and hang out. Yippee!

And then a week from Friday, myself and as-yet-undetermined random triplet are heading to Virginia!

Too much excitment. Now I’ll stop talking and post some pictures I took this weekend…

Love Oliver’s face (in red) in this. It’s his new expression:

All three:

7 month ped visit

Today the boys had their seven month ped visit, and yet again, Linus topped Oliver in the weight category!

Stats are:
Linus: 17#8.5oz (25-50th); 27.5″ long (50-75th); HC 44cm (25-50th)
Oliver: 17#5.5oz (25-50th); 27.5″ long (50-75th); HC 44.25cm (50th)
Miles: 16#13.5oz (10-25th); 27.25″ long (50th)
; HC 44cm (25-50th)

And last month:

Linus: 16#5.5oz (25-50th); 26.5″ long (50th); HC 43cm (25-50th)
Oliver: 16#9.5oz (25-50th); 27″ long (75th); HC 44cm (50th)
Miles: 15#14oz (25th); 25.5″ long (25th)
(actually, this is incorrect, or he shrunk since last month!); HC 43.5cm (25-50th)

So, they really haven’t moved off their growth percentiles much (Miles appears to have shot up in height, but that’s due to a faulty measurement last month.) And to be honest, Linus had a poopy diaper when he was weighed. I changed him and unofficially weighed him again, and he lost 3.5 oz! That’s QUITE a poopy diaper, yes? Ew. Sorry. But Oliver’s diaper was full too (sorry, gross) so I think Linus still weighs more.

Anyhoo. Here’s what they’re doing now…

– Eating between 2-3 solid meals a day, plus 5-6 bottles. Geesh! They like rice cereal, bananas, apples, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, pears…okay, basically all of the stage 1 foods. I mashed them up an avocado once, but they weren’t impressed. I’ll try it again later. I’m not worried. So far they’re not picky at all.

– Sitting up a little bit, but not great. They can’t make themselves sit up, I have to put them in that position. But they can hold themselves in position for a few seconds (maybe 10-15) before they topple over.

– Babbling a lot, esp Linus and Oliver. Miles is a bit quieter, but he still does his share of chattering.

– They are starting to laugh at things we do, instead of just by being kissed all over or me tickling them with my hair.

– They LOVE to stand.

– They LOVE the taste of hands. Mmmmm, hands. Theirs, yours, mine, whatever hand is available will go right into mouth!

– No teeth yet, but I swear I feel one popping up in Linus’s mouth, but maybe not. We’ll see.

– Drooling like mad. It’s crazy. Like someone turned on a faucet in their head. Nice.

– Starting to get a little separation anxiety? They now outstretch their arms when they want to be picked up. And whine. Fun. But it is kind of sweet, too.

– Love the exersaucers, walker. The swings are about to be gone for good. They love to suck on their feet now, which is looking more and more dangerous is the swing. Not very fond of the Bumbos anymore, either.

– As just mentioned, they found their feet! Love to eat them. Yum, feet.

– STTN is still elusive. They’re good about not eating during the night, but sometimes they’ll wake up and fuss. I think we’ve gotten two solid nights of STTN in a month. Sigh.

I guess that’s it for now, if I remember anything else, I’ll update this entry.

Pics of Oliver and Miles I took today while Linus was hanging out with George. Note the copious amounts of drool…

Woo!

Am so excited…in less than three weeks, I’ll be spending the weekend in the DC area with Kristina and my sister and Emily and my other DC-area friends. Since it’s just me going, I’ll be bringing just one baby with me. And I’m going to pick fairly (in case they’re reading this in 15 years…) and draw a name out of a hat. Either that, or I’ll just take lots of pictures in different outfits, and Photoshop the resulting photos to make it look like I brought all three. (And in that case, of course I’ll edit this entry.)

If you’re disappointed that I’m not bringing all three boys, do this…drink several beers. And then you’ll see three. They’re identical, you won’t know the difference! Or if you’re not a drinker, squint. Or something.

I can’t wait to see my Emily again, and to see Kristina’s new house, and Annie and her son Whitman and their new house. And hopefully meet some of my blog friends too! Egads, it’s exciting!

We had a pretty low-key fourth of July. We didn’t even see a single firework! But we did hang out with some friends for a little while. Mostly I was preparing for the most exciting part of the weekend…Saturday night!

My boss and his family took all three boys overnight so George and I could have some time to ourselves. People, I slept until ELEVEN IN THE MORNING! It was blissful. I took some Tylenol PM to make sure I didn’t hear phantom baby cries in the night.

We also went to dinner with friends and I saw WALL-E. Ack, I loved it! Want to see again.

So that is me right now. If anyone has tips for flying alone with a baby, please feel free to share!

Now, for your enjoyment…

And now Oliver…

Our aquarium trip from last weekend: Note Miles eating his blue stroller. He looooves blue stroller. It tastes goooood.

Happy seven months to the boys! I can’t believe how fast this year is going. Before you know it, we’ll be planning their first birthday party. At which time they’ll be mobile. Gulp!

I’ll update with their stats after their 7 month pediatrician appointment next week. My boys are getting so big!

So long ago

What I need to do is go to bed, and sleep while my sick little guys are sleeping. Because it ain’t gonna last long. But instead, I am going to post some pictures of each boy when they were teeeeeny tiny. Because I can.

It blows me away to look at this tiny baby now. Oliver is my chunker, weighing in at somewhere in the 17 lb range now. He’s two days old here, and he weighed 4 lbs, 10 oz at birth. He’s almost quadrupled his birth weight! I could fit him almost in my hand, look!

I remember when I first got to see the boys. It was earlier that day, the day after they were born. I didn’t get to see them until about 28 hours had passed, because I was on a magnesium sulfate IV to bring down my blood pressure. I can’t say it was the worst thing in the world – I was sad to have to wait, but honestly, I was so doped up on morphine and pain meds that I don’t remember much of their birth day anyway.

I didn’t really bond with the boys right away. I think maybe that had something to do with the fact that I didn’t get to see them for so long? Or because they were in the NICU and I was seven floors below them in my hospital room? I could only go see them for a short time every day, if I could get someone to wheel me up. (George had a cold and didn’t get to see them until they were four or five days old!)

But now I look at this tiny baby and look at his little angry face that he makes even now when he cries, and my heart gets all gooshy and melty and I think, man, I love that kid!

And his brothers, too…

Sick babies

Ugh. We have sick babies here. It is definitely the most miserable I’ve ever heard them. They just moan.

I took Linus to the ped this morning and she took one look at the little bumps on this tongue and said he has a virus that’s related to Hand Food and Mouth disease, but without the hands and feed. 😛

It’s just awful. They don’t want to eat because it hurts, but they cry when they’re hungry. They are all mucusy and they have been coughing and puking up all the mucus that’s been draining. It’s very sad and scary, the choking. 😦

Just keep the little guys in your thoughts, that this goes away very fast. Poor little bunnies!

This is from when they were still well…Linus is pinching Miles. Hee hee!

Picture post

I don’t have time for an update (not that there’s much to update about) so I’ll just post pictures!

(isn’t this the cutest picture of Emily?)
(look, my sister and BIL own “Snakes on a Plane”!
(and Married with Children?!?)

Apologies to anyone who has already seen these on my Flickr page. I promise I’ll take more pics this weekend – I’m taking the boys to the aquarium!

Uncle Evan comes to town!

Uncle Evan came to town this weekend (well, to Baton Rouge), so I took the boys to see him and spend the night at Grandees. It was mostly fun.

Friday night we went out to eat, and Saturday we went to the mall. I bought some lipstick that has since disappeared. I suspect it’s in my car somewhere, which means it will have melted into a puddle by now, which means I may has well flushed $12 down the toilet. Or burned it. Or shredded it. Etc, etc. Sigh. I hope I find it.

Saturday night, some people came over for dinner. Later, Evan made me drive across town so he could film some nighttime footage for the movie he’s currently working on. I’d better get mentioned in the credits.

Here is Uncle Evan and his three nephews (out of order…here is Linus, Miles, Oliver.)

When the boys were born, I thought they looked just like Evan. Maybe it was the hair…

Totally off the subject, but this is how I found Linus during a nap yesterday:

TGIF

Thank goodness it’s Friday. No, for real. It’s been a rough week. Sick children, yucky weather, and more sick children. All are well now, though, and we have a fun weekend to look forward to. I’m getting a haircut! And a brow wax! It’s been embarrassingly long since I’ve had either, so you can imagine my excitment.

In other, random, exciting things, the boys’ nursery was featured on this design website, ohdeedoh.com

Hmmm. That’s it. Have a good weekend! I’ll post if the news thing is on Sunday or if they post it online or something.

5 months old!

Happy five months, boys! I’ll update with a more detailed post later in the week, when they have their 5 month visit with the pediatrician.

New stroller

Oh well, so much for my posting streak. Sorrryyyy! The boys are sick still. Well, sick again. A different sick. They’re getting over colds, and now they have what I suspect is rotavirus. In any case, it’s something digestive related, ifyouknowwhatimean. But they’re in good spirits, no fever, nothing like that, so it’s not a huge deal, except that they can’t be at daycare. And so it begins…

Got our new stroller today, it’s awesome. Makes our sixth stroller. But once the boys outgrow their carseats, three of them will be retired. So eventually, we’ll have a more manageable number of strollers.

That’s Linus at the back, Oliver in the middle, and Miles in front. 🙂

Yes….it has a steering wheel. Ha!

Today was a big day for the boys. Oliver almost rolled over. Miles and Linus “found” each other. And Linus picked up a toy. Yay! I was starting to get worried that they hadn’t done any of these things, and bam-bam-bam, they do them. Sweet of them to stop Mama from worrying.

Mom’s coming tomorrow to spend the night, hooray! The boys miss their Grandee. And I miss sleeping alllll night long.

Regarding the cloth diapers – we haven’t been using them a whole lot since the boys have been, ahem, sick. I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to get back to using them soon.

Oh yeah, and today I cleaned up the boys room. Here is the only time you might see the nursery clean and organized…

DNA test is back…

THEY’RE IDENTICAL!

Okay, now stop asking. 😛

We just found out (thanks A & M!) that the boys are, indeed, genetically identical.

Now do I get my free diapers?

As if there was any doubt…
