First food!

Last week, we decided to let the boys try rice cereal. Let’s just say we’re going to wait a little while before we try again. Heh.

Linus is first up.

I think he likes it!

Or does he?

Well, Daddy definitely does, anyway.

(Yes. George is disgusting.)

Miles is next.

Can’t say he’s thrilled with it.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

Well, we tried!

Daddy still likes it!

Oliver goes last.

He doesn’t seem too impressed.

Surprised, though.

The end!

Four months old!

Yeah, no duh, that was 11 days ago! Well, I’ve been busy. So there. And their ped appointment was on the 11th, so I didn’t want to post before then anyway. Geez, get off my back!

Heh.

First, the cuteness:
4 months old!

The stats:

Linus: 14#9.5oz (50th); 25″ long (50th); HC 41.5cm (25-50th)
Oliver: 14#11oz (50th); 24.5″ long (25-50th); HC 43.5cm (50-75th)
Miles: 13#15oz (25-50th); 24.25″ long (25-50th); HC 42cm (50th)

To compare, at 3 months:
Linus: 12 lbs, 14.5 oz (25-50th percentile); 23.75″ long (25-50th percentile)
Oliver: 13 lbs, 5 oz (50th percentile); 23.75″ long (25-50th percentile)
Miles: 12 lbs, 7.5 oz (25th percentile); 22.75″ long (10th percentile)

So they’re growing, yes indeed!

I’d love to make a longer post about how they’re doing, but I’ll have to save that for later. Right now a baby is crying, I need to finish my coffee and get them ready for school. 🙂

Picture post!

Too tired for anything but pictures from the past week…

(jenny, turn that one)

And with that, I’m off to sleep. Maybe I’ll add the captions later. Or you can go to my flickr account if you really want to know what they mean…

Just a quick post to say we had a fantastic, if exhausting weekend. Full recap to come later. The boys got a ton of great gifts at their christening, but many of the bags were without tags or cards, so I don’t know who to thank. Can you leave a comment letting me know what you gave them? Obviously if you just gave them a card, or if you know you wrote on the tag, don’t worry about it. But there were a few bags (from Adler’s, and the one with the fuzzy duck that I was told about, but for the life of me, I can’t remember WHO told me about the fuzzy duck, sigh…)

Boys start daycare today. Well, two of them. Miles is spending a few days with Grandee and his aunts and uncles and cousins in Baton Rouge. I miss my little guy!

04/02/08

Just a quick post, because I need to go to sleep. Thank goodness Sarah (the night nanny we got after Olga left to go on vacation) is here tonight. I’d forgotten to tell George that she was coming tonight, so when I mentioned it a few minutes before he arrived, he was so excited that we’d get to sleeeep. And then I had to say “April Fool’s!” He was not amused. At least it wasn’t really an April Fool’s joke. That would have been downright cruel.

Had a pretty low-key weekend. Went to a friend’s birthday party on Friday night (the boys came too) and then for most of the weekend we just cleaned. In preparation for the housecleaner that’s coming tomorrow afternoon. You know how that goes. I’m so excited about the cleaner – she’s a gift from some very dear friends who are paying for her to work her magic. Yay!

Lots of people think we should be famous or something for having identical triplets. I guess because I know so many other triplet moms with identicals (like these ladies, fr’instance) that it just doesn’t seem THAT unique. And kind of unfair if I get free diapers and they (or every other mom of triplets) don’t. I mean, what in the world did I do to deserve free stuff? I didn’t go through the heartache and pain that many moms of triplets have to go through, when their kids come from fertility treatments. I think sometimes I feel some kind of guilt for this. Having it come so easily to us. Talk about unfair. I could go on and on, but I won’t, because it can be a sensitive subject (duh) and if I do, I’d probably end up sticking my foot in my mouth at some point. But you get the idea.

So if we don’t get splashed all over the national news and if we don’t get years of free diapers, it’s okay. We already won the lottery. I mean, look:

(Is Miles giving Oliver a wet willie? Kinda looks like it.)

DNA test is back…

THEY’RE IDENTICAL!

Okay, now stop asking. 😛

We just found out (thanks A & M!) that the boys are, indeed, genetically identical.

Now do I get my free diapers?

As if there was any doubt…

CCC 10k

Happy Easter! We’re going over to our friends’ house later. I made Pineapple Casserole and Fruit Pizza to bring. Yum.

Yesterday, the boys and I walked the Crescent City Classic 10K with Stephanie and Liam, Mary Catherine and Millie, and Teresa. We didn’t lose! It was fun, and the boys got a lot of attention. Surprise!

Being silly before the race:

Everyone except Tee, who was taking the picture: (Steph was nice enough to trade strollers with me for a while)

Miles is winning! Hee hee.

We also got to hang out with Anne and Bill and little Whitman. He’s so cute!

Okay, must go finish cooking!

Ugh, I’m a terrible blogger! Sorry ’bout that.

Not much to report. The boys are cooing and smiling and being generally pretty cheerful. It’s very nice. They are definitely morning people. How did that happen?

For the past two nights, they went seven hours between feedings! It was awesome. That made for about six hours of sleep.

Okay, I wrote the above on Sunday evening. Now I can say that they went six hours between feedings last night…still good! I’m not complaining! If we can keep this up, I may be able to retain my sanity when I go back to work full time on April 7. Fingers crossed.

On Saturday I took the boys (along with about 10 of our friends) to the St Patricks Day parades uptown. It was quite the adventure. We took a double and a single stroller, so it wasn’t too obvious that we had triplets, because there was usually a good distance between the two strollers. But there were times when we would walk alongside each other and then…lots of attention. But the boys handled it with grace. Heh.

I really wish I’d brought my camera with us. The boys had their first streetcar ride! Very exciting.

Had a nice weekend, but boy am I tired now! For some reason I couldn’t get to sleep last night. That was definitely the first time that’s happened since the boys were born. It might be because I slept in until 11:30 yesterday (but of course it was really 10:30, and that doesn’t count the 3 times we got up to feed babies for an hour at a time.) Miles had started fussing at 10ish, so I brought him to bed with me (George had already gotten up.) It was sweet, snuggling with my Miles-bear.

Anyhoo. This weekend, the boys had their first trip to the pub! (Ex-utero, that is. I had plenty of mocktails at the pub while pregnant.) They agreed that Guinness is yucky and they vastly prefer gin and tonics. Ha! I kid, of course. We didn’t even go inside, we sat by the picnic table outside with some friends and their little girl. Didn’t even stay long, it was pretty cold. But George was happy that he got to show them where Mommy and Daddy met. Hee hee!

Oh backing up, on Friday night I went to the Mothers of Triplets meeting. It was so nice to meet other people who have gone through what we’re going through. One of the best parts was seeing the other two moms who had their babies when I had mine. (Remember the news story? Although, now, looking again, I can’t help noticing the errors in the story. First they call Oliver Owen, and they got Miles’ weight wrong. Whatever.) I can’t wait for the ten of our kids to get together again, outside of the NICU!

Yesterday was Friendship Day, a big neighborhood block party. The weather was gorgeous. We even got a family pic:

3 months old!

Yesterday the boys turned three months old. Three months?!? Where has the time gone? Seriously. I have a feeling I’ve said that every month and that I will continue to do so…

At their ped visit, their stats were:

Linus:  12 lbs, 14.5 oz (25-50th percentile); 23.75″ long (25-50th percentile)

Oliver: 13 lbs, 5 oz (50th percentile); 23.75″ long (25-50th percentile)

Miles: 12 lbs, 7.5 oz (25th percentile); 22.75″ long (10th percentile)

So Oliver’s still my chunk, and Miles is still my runt.  The doctor eased my worries about their development (I think I’m just paranoid about it, and have to continually remind myself that while physically, they’re normal for their age, developmentally we have to go by their adjusted age.) and said they’re healthy boys. They got two shots each, and handled them pretty well.

Let’s see…what can I say about them?

– Eating up to 6 oz at a feeding, but mostly 3-4 at a time.
– Sleeping a 5-6 hour stretch in the late evening, but for the most part, still eating every 3 hours during the night. Ugh.
– We’re getting pretty decent smiles out of all of them, but it’s still pretty sporadic. Better than nothing.
– They make the cutest “gaah” and “oooooh” and “awww” sounds. Kills me.
– They don’t poop nearly as much as they used to. Whew!

On a related note, I sent my MFM a birth announcement and a note saying how grateful I was to him and his staff for getting my boys to me so healthy. Today I got a note in the mail from him. I was almost in tears reading it.

“Pam –
Thanks for the pictures and the nice words. Your boys are beautiful. You did more than any of us to get them here safely.
Miracles are possible – AR”

Sniff, sniff. See why I loved him?

Also, did anyone see the article about the identical triplets in NY? It’s kind of annoying, because where the heck was my news conference? Heh. For the record, no, I still haven’t found out if they’re identical. So when I do find out, then do I get to be famous? Hee!

3/3/08

Had such a lovely weekend. 🙂

Took the boys to Baton Rouge (sans George, so he could have a little fun time too) because my cousin Laura was in town with her two daughters Charlotte and Kristen. Charlotte just turned four, so there was a big ol’ party for her at my aunt and uncle’s house. I got a sparkly Hello Kitty sticker/tattoo. We party hard, we do. And Kristen is the newest member of the family, a good 17 days younger than her older wiser triplet cousins. She has much to learn from them, with the wisdom they have gained from their time on this earth. Hee!

They all seemed to like each other well enough…

Actually, by the looks of it, Kristen was bored by them. Hmmm. Must work on honing their sense of humor or something.

NOTE TO FAMILY: SEND ME YOUR PICTURES, DANGIT!

This is referring to the papparazzi treatment Laura, Kristen, the boys and I got during our photo shoot. Ha ha! It was fun. But I have no pictures from it, so I am asking anyone who took pictures to send them to me. And I know yall read this, because you knew all of our stories already! (Email is pam@pyjammy.com.)

I also should post these pictures here. Because they’re funny and I didn’t post them before. And some people think I don’t take/post enough pictures of Miles. Poor little Miles. He likes to dress up…

Devlish little guy, isn’t he?

And here’s a cute picture of Oliver wearing an outfit (from our friend Hadley’s boys) that makes him look quite tough:

ha!

Note: Not sure if anyone came here from our new domain, kocketriplets.com. It’s just going to direct you here until the day comes when I have enough free time to make them their own website. Which will be never! Ha!

The babies meet Max

Two entries in one day! But I have to share a few pictures…

Me and the boys! I take all the pictures, so I have very few of me with the boys. Thanks for taking this, Monica!

My cousin Monica, her son Max, and Linus:

Sleeping babies…oh, heaven!

And, for the record…Oliver smiled at me today! That was my first real smile directed at just me, from any of the boys. Yes, my heart melted into a pile of goo. It’s true.
