New stroller

Oh well, so much for my posting streak. Sorrryyyy! The boys are sick still. Well, sick again. A different sick. They’re getting over colds, and now they have what I suspect is rotavirus. In any case, it’s something digestive related, ifyouknowwhatimean. But they’re in good spirits, no fever, nothing like that, so it’s not a huge deal, except that they can’t be at daycare. And so it begins…

Got our new stroller today, it’s awesome. Makes our sixth stroller. But once the boys outgrow their carseats, three of them will be retired. So eventually, we’ll have a more manageable number of strollers.

That’s Linus at the back, Oliver in the middle, and Miles in front. 🙂

Yes….it has a steering wheel. Ha!

Today was a big day for the boys. Oliver almost rolled over. Miles and Linus “found” each other. And Linus picked up a toy. Yay! I was starting to get worried that they hadn’t done any of these things, and bam-bam-bam, they do them. Sweet of them to stop Mama from worrying.

Mom’s coming tomorrow to spend the night, hooray! The boys miss their Grandee. And I miss sleeping alllll night long.

Regarding the cloth diapers – we haven’t been using them a whole lot since the boys have been, ahem, sick. I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to get back to using them soon.

Oh yeah, and today I cleaned up the boys room. Here is the only time you might see the nursery clean and organized…

Funny…

I have one reader (hi Kelly!) who has a son named Linus. Pretty cool, yeah? And then today I got an email through Flickr from someone who has an Oliver AND a Linus. Now there’s gotta be someone out there who has a Linus, Oliver AND a Miles. 🙂

Tonight I’m having dinner with Alicia and Stephanie, the other moms featured in the ABC News story. I can’t wait to compare notes with them. Between us, we have six girls and four boys, it’s going to be fun to have playdates with them when the kids are older.

A couple of pictures…

Going on a walk…

The boys modeling their new cloth diapers.

Yes, I said cloth diapers. We’re trying them out, hoping to save a little $$$. And yes, it’s hard not to think of the impact three babies’ worth of disposable diapers is doing to the landfills. Hey, I even bought some reusable shopping bags! I’m so green! Woo!

CCC 10k

Happy Easter! We’re going over to our friends’ house later. I made Pineapple Casserole and Fruit Pizza to bring. Yum.

Yesterday, the boys and I walked the Crescent City Classic 10K with Stephanie and Liam, Mary Catherine and Millie, and Teresa. We didn’t lose! It was fun, and the boys got a lot of attention. Surprise!

Being silly before the race:

Everyone except Tee, who was taking the picture: (Steph was nice enough to trade strollers with me for a while)

Miles is winning! Hee hee.

We also got to hang out with Anne and Bill and little Whitman. He’s so cute!

Okay, must go finish cooking!

Had a nice weekend, but boy am I tired now! For some reason I couldn’t get to sleep last night. That was definitely the first time that’s happened since the boys were born. It might be because I slept in until 11:30 yesterday (but of course it was really 10:30, and that doesn’t count the 3 times we got up to feed babies for an hour at a time.) Miles had started fussing at 10ish, so I brought him to bed with me (George had already gotten up.) It was sweet, snuggling with my Miles-bear.

Anyhoo. This weekend, the boys had their first trip to the pub! (Ex-utero, that is. I had plenty of mocktails at the pub while pregnant.) They agreed that Guinness is yucky and they vastly prefer gin and tonics. Ha! I kid, of course. We didn’t even go inside, we sat by the picnic table outside with some friends and their little girl. Didn’t even stay long, it was pretty cold. But George was happy that he got to show them where Mommy and Daddy met. Hee hee!

Oh backing up, on Friday night I went to the Mothers of Triplets meeting. It was so nice to meet other people who have gone through what we’re going through. One of the best parts was seeing the other two moms who had their babies when I had mine. (Remember the news story? Although, now, looking again, I can’t help noticing the errors in the story. First they call Oliver Owen, and they got Miles’ weight wrong. Whatever.) I can’t wait for the ten of our kids to get together again, outside of the NICU!

Yesterday was Friendship Day, a big neighborhood block party. The weather was gorgeous. We even got a family pic:

3 months old!

Yesterday the boys turned three months old. Three months?!? Where has the time gone? Seriously. I have a feeling I’ve said that every month and that I will continue to do so…

At their ped visit, their stats were:

Linus:  12 lbs, 14.5 oz (25-50th percentile); 23.75″ long (25-50th percentile)

Oliver: 13 lbs, 5 oz (50th percentile); 23.75″ long (25-50th percentile)

Miles: 12 lbs, 7.5 oz (25th percentile); 22.75″ long (10th percentile)

So Oliver’s still my chunk, and Miles is still my runt.  The doctor eased my worries about their development (I think I’m just paranoid about it, and have to continually remind myself that while physically, they’re normal for their age, developmentally we have to go by their adjusted age.) and said they’re healthy boys. They got two shots each, and handled them pretty well.

Let’s see…what can I say about them?

– Eating up to 6 oz at a feeding, but mostly 3-4 at a time.
– Sleeping a 5-6 hour stretch in the late evening, but for the most part, still eating every 3 hours during the night. Ugh.
– We’re getting pretty decent smiles out of all of them, but it’s still pretty sporadic. Better than nothing.
– They make the cutest “gaah” and “oooooh” and “awww” sounds. Kills me.
– They don’t poop nearly as much as they used to. Whew!

On a related note, I sent my MFM a birth announcement and a note saying how grateful I was to him and his staff for getting my boys to me so healthy. Today I got a note in the mail from him. I was almost in tears reading it.

“Pam –
Thanks for the pictures and the nice words. Your boys are beautiful. You did more than any of us to get them here safely.
Miracles are possible – AR”

Sniff, sniff. See why I loved him?

Also, did anyone see the article about the identical triplets in NY? It’s kind of annoying, because where the heck was my news conference? Heh. For the record, no, I still haven’t found out if they’re identical. So when I do find out, then do I get to be famous? Hee!

3/3/08

Had such a lovely weekend. 🙂

Took the boys to Baton Rouge (sans George, so he could have a little fun time too) because my cousin Laura was in town with her two daughters Charlotte and Kristen. Charlotte just turned four, so there was a big ol’ party for her at my aunt and uncle’s house. I got a sparkly Hello Kitty sticker/tattoo. We party hard, we do. And Kristen is the newest member of the family, a good 17 days younger than her older wiser triplet cousins. She has much to learn from them, with the wisdom they have gained from their time on this earth. Hee!

They all seemed to like each other well enough…

Actually, by the looks of it, Kristen was bored by them. Hmmm. Must work on honing their sense of humor or something.

NOTE TO FAMILY: SEND ME YOUR PICTURES, DANGIT!

This is referring to the papparazzi treatment Laura, Kristen, the boys and I got during our photo shoot. Ha ha! It was fun. But I have no pictures from it, so I am asking anyone who took pictures to send them to me. And I know yall read this, because you knew all of our stories already! (Email is pam@pyjammy.com.)

I also should post these pictures here. Because they’re funny and I didn’t post them before. And some people think I don’t take/post enough pictures of Miles. Poor little Miles. He likes to dress up…

Devlish little guy, isn’t he?

And here’s a cute picture of Oliver wearing an outfit (from our friend Hadley’s boys) that makes him look quite tough:

ha!

Note: Not sure if anyone came here from our new domain, kocketriplets.com. It’s just going to direct you here until the day comes when I have enough free time to make them their own website. Which will be never! Ha!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

After my last entry, dear Mom came to the rescue and stayed with us a couple of nights so I could get a bit of a break. Thanks Mommy!

The boys wanted to say Happy Valentine’s Day! Thanks Aunt Jenny for our onesies. Good thing V-day isn’t any later, they barely fit. Am I going to have to start putting these guys in 3-6 month clothes already?

2/11/08

Well, after a meltdown on Thursday night that resulted in a teary call to a friend at 10:00 at night, we figured out how to make the boys settle down for the night. It’s a miracle! Baths. It’s all about baths. Give them a bath, and they’ll go right to sleep (or something like that.) V nice.

That said, they’re still fussy in the evenings, so if you want to help, please let me know. An extra pair of arms, an extra lap, and extra shoulder to burp on…that’s what we need right now. Email me if you think you can/want to help. I think the boys figured out that they outnumber us, and it’s been v challenging.

And, I’m going back to work this week. Fortunately, I have the world’s most awesome boss, and so I only have to go into the office a few days a week for the time being, and the rest of the time I’ll be checking in from home. In April, the boys will be starting at daycare, so by then I reeeeally hope they’ll be sleeping through the night. Oh please, please boys…sleep through the night!

On Friday, we took them to the pediatrician for their two month visit and shots. The shots went pretty well. Even a bit amusing. The doctor would give the shot very quickly and a split second later, you’d get a reaction. It went like this:

*shot*…second passes…eyes open wide in a WHAT WAS THAAAAT?…short burst of screaming, then silence. And repeat on other leg. Times three.

I love our pediatricians. They check the boys over in their laps, very gently and soothingly. No cold exam rooms, at least not yet.

And what you’ve all been waiting for…weights! Apparently the scale at the WIC office was a bit off. It was old and a tad rusty, so I’m not surprised. Our boys aren’t quite as chunky as we previously thought…

Linus: 11 lbs, (25-50 percentile) 21.5″ long (10 percentile)
Oliver: 11 lbs, 9 oz, (50 percentile), 21.5″ long (10 percentile)
Miles: 10 lbs, 10 oz, (25 percentile), 21″ long (5 percentile)

Note that the percentiles are NOT for adjusted age. Those are for actual 2 month olds! Woo!

And, to close, a photo, in their baby legs that Aunts Kristina and Anne gave them. 🙂

Two months old!

Two months old!

The boys turned two months old on Monday, but with all of the Mardi Gras stuff going on, I didn’t have time to post. Teresa and I took Oliver (randomly picked child) to the French Quarter. It was fun, and he was an angel. Only woke up to eat, and didn’t cry ever. I just wanted to feel like a normal mom with one baby. Is that so wrong?

Anyway, here are some pics of the boys on their two month birthday:

Poor Linus, getting pushed around by his brothers…

Sweet sleeping (random) baby:

Miles

Am too tired for a real post, so I’ll just post a few pictures of Miles from yesterday. What a strong neck he has!

Aunt Jenny’s visit

This was a big weekend for the boys! Not only did they meet Aunt Jenny…

but they also met their great-Grandpa and great Uncle Kevin!

They were v good boys for their visit. And Aunt Jenny hardly got any sleep. I’m sure she’s secretly thrilled to be going home to a baby who sleeps through the night.

Grandee and her friend also came to visit on Saturday, and they brought a ton of yummy food that we’re still eating. Mmmmm!

Update on the boys

I’m a bit behind on this post, but oh well.

My mom and I took the boys to the pediatrician on Thursday. No real reason, just a little check up.

I’m glad we took them, otherwise we wouldn’t know what little piglets we have here!

At five weeks, two days old, the boys weights are:

Linus: 8 lbs, 3 oz
Oliver: 8 lbs, 10 oz
Miles: 7 lbs, 15.5 oz (oh so close!!!)

They’re officially “on the charts” now, not even for their adjusted age! So if they were normal, full-term babies at 5 weeks old, they’d be in the 5-25th percentile for their weights, heights, and head circumferences. (You can guess who the 25th percentile dude is.) So proud of my little chunky men.

Other good news is that Linus does not have a milk allergy as we were slightly worried about. Whew!

Hmmm. I had a great birthday, did I already mention that? We saw Walk Hard, which was funny, but I don’t know – I’d save it for when it comes out on DVD. The sushi was delicious (come to mama, raw fish!) and words cannot describe the joy I experienced while sipping my frozen daiquiri. Hee hee! Is that worrisome? Heh.

I also got some awesome birthday gifts. George gave me a beautiful ring that I sort of hinted heavily about (okay, I sent him the link) that symbolizes the boys:

My new ring

Note how the middle stone (all blue topaz, that’s their birthstone) is slightly bigger? Just like our middle boy, Oliver! Heh.

And Kristina sent me a gift box of yummy goodies – including some pregnancy-forbidden blue cheese. Mmmm… And my brother and SIL sent a gift box called the “Midnight Feeding Box” full of bread and cheese and salami and coffee cake and honey and peanut butter and chocolate. Holy yummy!

I didn’t mean to forget the gift my in-laws gave me, too. This beautiful pendant that looks a lot like this but with three babies, not one! How perfect, eh?

This week will be exciting – Aunt Jenny’s coming to visit the boys! And take over the night time feedings so I can sleep! Okay, maybe she doesn’t know that yet. I hope she bought a non-refundable ticket. Heh.

And, pics, because it’d be mean of me to post without pics, right? I call this one “Daddy licks a baby”.

Okay, that’s all I got for now…
